🎉 Drumroll, please… for Ms. Macey! 🎉

Meet Macey — a sweet girl with a heart full of love and a second chance on her mind. ❤️

Macey was picked up running loose, and sadly, no one came to claim her. She’s estimated to be around 2 years old and has a wonderful, affectionate personality. 🐾

While she already has some good manners, we’re still helping her fine-tune a few things — but she’s eager to learn and even more eager to love.

If you think you could be the fresh start Macey is waiting for, give us a call. She’s ready to find her forever home!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Erika Reyes to the Hopewell Animal Services team! Erika has been with us since March 2025 and has quickly proven to be an invaluable part of the shelter.

Her dedication and tireless work ethic shine through every day as she cares for the animals and keeps things running smoothly—despite having to put up with the daily shenanigans of our Animal Control Officers 🤪

Introducing Panda… and those ears!! 🐾🖤

Panda is an amazing girl who gives her whole heart once she knows you. While she may be a little standoffish at first, just give her a couple of meet-and-greets—once she trusts you, her loyalty runs deep. 💯

Panda is deaf, so she needs a little extra guidance and patience as she learns to navigate the world, but she’s incredibly smart and food-motivated, which makes training a fun bonding experience.

She absolutely loves playing ball and is always up for a good game!

🚨 Abandoned and Left Behind 🚨

At approximately 7:00 AM, officers responded to a heartbreaking call and discovered this dog running loose in a driveway. Evidence at the scene indicates the dog had been tied up and pulled free from its collar — a clear act of desperation.

This is not just neglect. This is ANIMAL CRUELTY and ABANDONMENT.

No animal deserves to be discarded like trash.

If you recognize this dog or know who is responsible, please come forward. Give this dog a voice. Help us ensure justice is served — in a court of law and in the name of every voiceless animal.

Introducing Officer Lena Nieto!

Officer Lena Nieto joined the Hopewell Police Department’s Animal Control Unit in April 2024. She brought with her a strong background in animal care, including valuable experience working in a veterinary clinic.
Since becoming part of the City of Hopewell team, Officer Nieto has enjoyed connecting with members of the community—especially our youth—to educate them about the vital role animal control officers play in protecting both animals and the public.
Lena’s favorite part of the job is helping animals escape harmful situations and giving them a voice within our justice system.
We are thankful for Officer Nieto’s dedication, compassion, and continued commitment to serving both our citizens and our furry companions.

Crystal has been waiting for her forever home for a whole year at the shelter, and it's time for this sweet girl to find the love she deserves!
This gentle soul truly shines once she trusts you. She enjoys her time running on the treadmill, especially when she's go-digging for fun! Crystal recently discovered the joy of bath time, standing perfectly still and soaking up all the love and attention.
While she can be a bit alert around strangers and needs some work on her leash walking (she gets a little jumpy when returning to the shelter), we're confident that with patience and love, she'll flourish.

Background: Voodoo was picked up running loose multiple times in the past. When officers attempted to return her home, it was discovered she had been rehomed. Unfortunately, the previous owner(s) did not have the information of who they gave her to. The new owner(s) did not call or come looking for her.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Morgan Turner to the Hopewell Police Department’s Animal Control Unit! Officer Turner joined the department in September 2023, bringing with her a strong background in animal care from years of experience living and working on a farm.

Since joining the City of Hopewell, Officer Turner has discovered a deep passion for educating the community and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens—both human and furry. Her favorite part of the job is watching the transformation of animals who enter the shelter and helping them find their way into loving homes or rescue organizations.
