Introducing Officer Lena Nieto!

Officer Lena Nieto joined the Hopewell Police Department’s Animal Control Unit in April 2024. She brought with her a strong background in animal care, including valuable experience working in a veterinary clinic.
Since becoming part of the City of Hopewell team, Officer Nieto has enjoyed connecting with members of the community—especially our youth—to educate them about the vital role animal control officers play in protecting both animals and the public.
Lena’s favorite part of the job is helping animals escape harmful situations and giving them a voice within our justice system.
We are thankful for Officer Nieto’s dedication, compassion, and continued commitment to serving both our citizens and our furry companions.

Background: Voodoo was picked up running loose multiple times in the past. When officers attempted to return her home, it was discovered she had been rehomed. Unfortunately, the previous owner(s) did not have the information of who they gave her to. The new owner(s) did not call or come looking for her.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Morgan Turner to the Hopewell Police Department’s Animal Control Unit! Officer Turner joined the department in September 2023, bringing with her a strong background in animal care from years of experience living and working on a farm.

Since joining the City of Hopewell, Officer Turner has discovered a deep passion for educating the community and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens—both human and furry. Her favorite part of the job is watching the transformation of animals who enter the shelter and helping them find their way into loving homes or rescue organizations.

We are incredibly thankful for Officer Turner’s dedication, compassion, and the positive energy she brings to our team and our city!
