This little fighter was the last of 6 premature pups. He was only 4 ounces, less than half the average newborn weight. He fought on for 5 days, and I lost a lot of sleep feeding him through a tube every 3 hours. I gave him all the love I could in his short life, but couldn’t save him. Show us breeders some grace, we all get our hearts broken more than you know. A special thanks to Pamela Jarman who took care of him for two days while I was working.

It started with a simple email from the wife of a vet with PTSD. Her husband had researched breeds and landed on Working Cockers. He didn’t send the email, she did. A big hint that this situation was legitimate. I reached out to my dear friends and neighbors over at Secret Keepers - Service Dogs and they immediately agreed to train a pup for free for this family. Sometimes it’s hard to believe or see God’s work in the world, but in this situation it was totally obvious, as I had talked to Steve and Madison about working with a cocker one day before I got the email. We all knew what to do. Follow secret keepers and maybe donate to their non profit if you want to help first responders and our vets in a real way that’s not some scam. Thanks! Phil Gray - CFK
