Meet Alley! Dr. Morelos and Alley are good buds now but before figuring out a good pre-appointment sedation protocol Alley would BOLT! Every wellness visit was stressful for him and everyone trying to help so we recommended a combination of medications to help reduce his anxiety.

With medication, low stress-handling (lots of treats), and gentle love, we can now treat Alley when he has a problem. He came in with painful ears this week and we were able to diagnose an ear infection, look into his ear canals, treat his ears with medication, AND get bloodwork for a wellness panel!

He was a rockstar and we are so thankful to his humans for trusting us with his care. We love pets like him when they open up and share their sweet personalities once the fear is diminished.

We always try to think about your dog or cat’s wellbeing when they come for exams, and sometimes that means treating their anxiety along with their presenting problem.

Did you know highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been causing cat illness and deaths? This is a newly emerging disease in our pet population in Oregon. Dr. Morelos and Dr. Johnson prepared a blog post about what you need to know to help protect your pets including prevention tips, signs of illness, and how we can help guide you if you suspect exposure to your pet.

Yellow tartar and stinky breath don’t have to be a part of your older pets life (or yours!)

Sadie is 12, almost 13, and she came in for a dental because she tends to build up tartar fast! Her last dental was in July and she already had a thick layer of tartar build up, which leads to bacterial infections, gingivitis, and eventually pain. Luckily, her family is focused on her health and are ready to brush her teeth to slow down that tartar buildup!

Swipe to see the progression of faces Louie had when he realized an ear cleaning and medication were on his treatment list!

Louie was a great sport when he had an ear infection pop up. His family brought him in at the first signs of head shaking and discomfort.

Ear appointments are the pits but here’s what you can expect from our team:

1) An ear exam to rule out a grass awn foreign body and make sure the ear drum is not ruptured, and an ear cytology to determine the cause of the infection.

2) A discussion about treatment options and potential underlying issues such as allergies.

3) A kind and helpful approach to resolving your pet’s discomfort and infection.

Louie did great for his ear cleaning and treatment! His infection resolved and he was back to his spunky self!

Little Miss Bear visited us this week because she ingested 1/2 of a corn cob that was left over from a BBQ last weekend. Good news for Bear, her radiographs showed no signs of blockage, just a full belly a few hours after breakfast. *phew* Things have been moving through as they should be since we saw her & her owner reports she is doing well!
This is a great reminder for all of us. As summer approaches & we start to enjoy the delicious offerings that come with it, make sure that things like the cob from your ear of corn gets placed in a trashcan that is not accessible to your furry friend. Corncobs pose a big concern for GI blockages & should not be given to our dogs to snack or chew on. If it's veggies your pup is wanting to munch, try green beans, broccoli or carrots! Blueberries or banana's can be a fun sweet switch up & all of those options can be frozen to help them cool off on the hot days ahead. 😉🐾

What happens when a 140lb toddler runs too fast on slippery floors & falls on himself? He breaks his foot with his butt. 🥴
This is Kamaji, Kylie's 2 yr old Great Pyrenees mix. Lucky for him, he's got the best team of gals around him, dedicated to making sure he heals up strong & is ready to tackle the trails. 🩷 For now, we're resting & sleepily guarding the chickens.
It's not just your pets, my friends. Our pets experience all of the same trials life can throw our way. Grateful for the support & care we have around us.
Hoping to have this guy playing with his buddies at the spit again soon. We'll see you out there!

Uma was in last fall for countless bandage changes while she was healing an elbow wound. Today, she is back to business as usual & we couldn't be happier! Here is Dr. Morelos with Uma & the beautiful bouquet they brought us to say thank you.
Last month our whole lobby was filled with the scent of fresh flowers as we received some very sweet "Thank You's" from some very kind souls. We truly have the most thoughtful clients. 🌼

Some kitten content for your Thursday morning. 🐾
These sweet babes wandered out of the woods, covered in pitch & crying for help. The kind souls who found them cleaned them up & brought them all in together for their first visit & to start their vaccines. It's safe to say the Churu treats were a hit!

Cooper is back to share with you that he made it in yesterday for his dental procedure! The x-ray on the second slide showed a small abscess forming at the base of one of Cooper's molars. Dr. Morelos was able to extract that pesky tooth, which will help prevent any discomfort or infection from popping up in Coop's little mouth. For a dog who loves food as much as Cooper does, this means he will be able to comfortably continue to munch those kibbies that he enjoys so much!

This is Geordie. This big guy is smiling after his annual exam this week & ready to welcome the spring sunshine! 🐾☀ Warmer weather means that fleas, ticks & mosquitos will be joining us on our outside adventures. Yay! 😝 With an up to date annual exam, we can help make sure that you are fully stocked on Flea/Tick & Heartworm preventions to help protect your furiends from those unwelcomed guests.
