Amazing how three poles can make a ride fun and challenging! app is wonderful- today I listened to an audio lesson by that used three poles in a fan to work on bend, balance and adjustability at all gates. Followed by a hack out the back field to purple flowers and mountain views. It was a good day!

This is our second year using Fly Predators to help keep the flies at bay. Last year we started mid-season in July but I feel we noticed a dramatic decrease. This year we started our treatments in late April. Once a month the cocoons are shipped to us. We patiently wait for them to start hatching then toss them in the areas of the pastures that have the most manure. These tiny insects can't fly very far but they eat fly larvae which in turn decreasing the flies! Brilliant! Less flies, happy humans, happier horses!

Fridays are for long trail rides! Made it to the new trail sections of the Phelps Creek Equestrian/ Hiker trail and the spot where Corey was able to use the excavator to cut in the trail from the 1100 to access that part of the trail easier. It was beautiful back there today- cool in the forest with lots of wildlife- three great horned owls, wild turkeys and even a black bear!

Great weekends aren't always easy ones. So fortunate to have Meika Decher join us a few times a year and to Meadowlark Equestrian for exceptional instruction and guidance in between.

Rider spotlight: Scarlet Hoffman-Pratt absolutely CRUSHED it this weekend at our annual spring Meika Decher clinic. Showing true dedication to her sport and education, Scarlet hopped on any horse she could to squeeze every last drop of learning out of this opportunity - and she made her dads trail horse look like he’s ready for the Grand Prix! It’s this level of devotion to the craft that makes a good rider into a great horsewoman.

Ziggy had the best body work session yesterday. He told us he wanted to stay in his pasture today for his session. So obliged and they had a very relaxed and special session! Meara watched on and often found herself so relaxed she almost decided to lay down too! (See Stories for a video!) So fortunate to have gifted body workers in our area!
