Congratulations to Joseph William on his beautiful euro mount from last season! Thank you for allowing Luna to be a part of the recovery.

We see a few bucks every year that are completely rut-crazed, and this guy was no exception. His body was worn down from the rut, covered in battle scars, and he carried several broken tines from his fights. Even after being shot, he traveled more than 800 yards, still stopping to check scrapes and doe bedding areas along the way.

This buck's determination made for a challenging track, but Luna stayed locked in and brought the recovery to a successful conclusion. Congratulations again on a well-earned trophy and a great-looking euro mount! 🦌🐾

If anyone else has euros or any taxidermy from one of Luna's recoveries we would love if send us pics to share.

First Shoulder Mount Alert! 🦌

Skye from Team Luna’s Deer Tracking got to see the first deer she recovered that later became a shoulder mount! This buck was shot a little too far back by Skye and Luna’s own handler, but it turned into the perfect opportunity to test Skye in a higher-stakes recovery situation. Praise to God for this deer that was enjoyed by our family and for the blessings of our dogs.

Beautiful taxidermy work by Stoltzfus Taxidermy in Ronks, PA . They did an incredible job fixing battle damage to the hide, matched the mold size perfectly, and the detail in the eyes is some of the best we’ve seen. The mount turned out amazing, and the turnaround time was impressively fast — especially for a November buck. Highly recommend them.

If anyone else has taxidermy from one of our recoveries, we’d love to see it!

🚨 First Buck Alert! 🚨

Luna was lucky enough to track for Keri last fall. Check out her beautiful shoulder mount with those dark chocolate antlers as she poses for a photo with her kids.

After the shot, the deer ran off. Unbeknownst to Keri, the buck had bedded down right along the trail she uses to access her stand. While trying to quietly sneak out and give the deer more time, she accidentally bumped him from his bed — completely through no fault of her own. Once bumped, the buck got back on his feet and covered serious ground.

Luna picked up the trail the following morning and recovered the buck nearly 900 yards away.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of the recovery and for sharing the finished mount with us!

If anyone else has taxidermy from one of Luna’s recoveries, we’d love to see it.

Luna got 4 more mock tracks this week to get to #55 for the season. She will be getting a well deserved week off.

Big shout out to Tyler Seachrist on his 2025 PA buck and the beautiful summer coat shoulder mount. Thank you for allowing Luna and me to be a part of the recovery.

The hunter wasn’t sure of the shot and made the right call to back out until morning. Around the 12-hour mark, and through no fault of the hunter, the deer was bumped from its first bed in a creek bottom. Luna and I hit the trail around the 24-hour mark. There was so much concentrated scent in the creek bottom from the deer laying there overnight that it created a difficult “scent bubble” to work out of.

Eventually, Luna sorted it out, pushed through some extremely thick bedding areas, and located the buck about 300 yards from the last bed. This deer was actually hit low in a single lung. One inch higher and the deer likely would have gone down within sight.

If anyone else has photos of taxidermy from one of Luna’s recoveries, be sure to share them.
