I’ve had a lot of people tell me that if they want a euro, they’ll just put the head in an ant pile or tie it up in a tree.

Here’s a comparison of two skulls, both have been boiled and bleached. The skull on the left was left in an ant hill for a while before the customer brought it in, the skull on the right was brought to us straight from the processor. If you want a bright white skull, don’t leave your heads out!!

My mom, Debby (the owner of Sportsman’s Wildlife Studio), shot this lion back in late 2007. It was a tough hunt for her as the snow was deep and she was short, but she finally got her lion.

For some reason or another, she never got around to mounting it. She was always working on something for someone else. After she passed away, my dad asked my brother and I to mount it.

Neither of us had ever done a lion before and we didn’t have my moms guidance but my dad encouraged us that we knew how to do it.

There were a lot of face rubs, a lot of “what do we do now’s” but between the two of us, and some insight from my dad and sister in law, we got it done. Now she sits proudly in the living room.

I hope we did mom proud with this one. I’m sure she got a few giggles at our expense.
