Banana flower harvesting today. Got a total of 21, 40lb boxes!
I sell them to the Asian market. I believe that they open them up and use the little flowers inside. They fry them up.
The base of the banana flower is also a survival food. Tastes bland but they say you can survive on them.
Almost every part of the banana tree is used. The fruit, everyone knows. The flower, I've explained above. But also, the Asian people eat the core of the stem and the leaves are used as a wrap for food like tamales and pork when cooking a pig!
