It's officially THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER WEEK... and we want to see all of our graduates flood social media in support of the class of 2025!

Our graduates are our best ambassadors for everything the Thoroughbred can do beyond racing. They're sport horses. They're recreational horses. They're companion horses, therapy horses, parents to the next generation of sport (or race) horses, and so much more.

✨Lease✨ Opportunity on Honey!!🐴

Offering to lease out my 20yr old paint mare, Honey, starting ASAP. I’m simply not out there enough to ride her. She will start to get stiff and overweight if she’s not being worked more, especially winter months. I’m looking for the right person to come enjoy some ride time with a great horse! You MUST have riding experience, or be at least an intermediate rider. I’m not looking to lease to a beginner rider at this time. Honey is a “been there & done that” kind of girl and has a very sweet temperament! She’s also very easy to catch and handle.

INCLUDES:
•2-4 rides a week (2 rides minimum & 4 rides maximum in a 7 day period)
•on-site lease (no trailering off the property, at this time anyway)
•1 nice indoor arena to use all winter!!
•1 nice outdoor area
•grooming supplies provided
•tack can be provided with an additional fee
•vet, farrier, feed, etc. bills are NOT required (owner will pay)
•1 lesson with me a week, with additional pay (optional)

REQUIREMENTS:
•if under 18yrs old, you must have a parent with at all times!
•would like 1-2 references or video reference
•need to have enough experience, (not looking for a beginner to lease her at this time)
•soft hands, patience, and being kind around any horse at the barn!
•barn appropriate wear
•I ask that rider does not practice the barrel pattern while riding, unless it is walk/trot only!
•follow barn rules such as: clean up after your horse, shut off lights, shut doors & gates, etc.

PAYMENT:
•$300/month (lease will be month-month)
•$50 per lesson with me ontop of lease (up to 1 lesson/week) -this is optional
•$25/month to use owners tack

ABOUT HONEY:
•she’s 20 yrs old & 15h
•sound!
•has been apart of Lockstep Riding Company for years & preformed at some big shows such as Midwest Horse Fair & Minn. Horse Expo
•barrel racing on and off for years
•traveled down to Texas, lived there for a year working on barrels, lessons, & trail rides
•has been on numerous trail rides & horse camping
•has given lessons with Honey Hill Riding to beginner riders of all ages for a couple years
•very nice personality, willingness, respectful, & great temperament
•trail rides off on her own with no problem
•great with the other horses at the barn
•easy to catch & handle
•she truly is a BOMB-proof horse!

We moved the horses out to Dutch Mill Farm, in Sparta WI. They’re doing great with the transition! Plus Rae approves since they have kitties to play with. 🤎🐈🐴🌿

Rosie & I went to see Honey at Midwest Horse Fair yesterday! Jesi rode her so amazing and they both looked great!! I’m super happy Honey can still be apart of the team even if I can’t!🫶🏻 Definitely may have been a little emotional watching them perform.🥹 Great job ladies!!!

Today's Breed and Discipline spotlight is on the Equestrian Drill Team represented at by Lockstep Riding Company.

The Lockstep Riding Company is a volunteer team of riders and horses from around La Crosse County, Wisconsin and was founded in 2010. Participants on the team range in age from 13 years to adult. Performance riders must possess a high level of equestrian skill, a steady seat, and a positive attitude essential for team building.

This fast-paced riding, in a variety of conditions and locations, requires intense focus, quick reflexes and precision to execute the safe completion of complicated maneuvers. Horse health and safety is of the utmost importance and so husbandry, consistent conditioning, training and desensitization are all considered and included in team commitment.

Participants may ride with the team for a season or two in practice to attain the level of confidence needed for both horse and rider before riding in performances.

Our Honey girl will be performing at the Midwest Horse Fair again this year with the Lockstep Riding Company, and this time I'll actually be watching from the audience!🥲💗

Watching the team perform from the sidelines this year is going to be particularly special! Honey (and I) have always LOVED riding in drill team! She gets soo pumped up and excited every time! I know how much hard work and practice goes into it so I was glad we were able to help the team out when they needed a horse to fill in. Also from experience, I can tell you how extremely excited (and nervous😅) you can be right before performing, so I’m looking forward to sharing that feeling with the girls while cheering them on LOUDLY from the audience!! 😁🥰
