Dogs Without Borders is a 501c3 non-profit, small dog rescue that saves homeless & abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters in the Los Angeles area, and find them permanent and loving homes. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees are listed on our website. All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption, and come with a DWB ID tag.

🐾🏡 Sweet little Copita is ready for warm hugs! 🏡🐾

She is a puppy-like perfect playful gal who enjoys running around and going for walks and then a good snuggle too. She is good with other dogs in the home and house trained also. She also loves to cuddle with humans and is very affectionate. She may growl at a stranger at first but warms up quickly. If you are looking for a low shedding doll baby... this is your girl!

🚨🙏 Peaches needs your support! 🚨🙏

We took a leap of faith with this sweet girl last week and we decided to rescue her from the scary shelter because she was in bad shape.

This sweet little senior girl, Peaches, is about 9-10 years old and only 17 pounds. If you remember she’s partially blind, has two large masses. Today is her big day at the our amazing vet in Thousand Oaks and we need to raise the funds to get her X-rays and Bloodwork. Her estimate for today was $600 and we can’t do this without your help.
It seems like our start to the New Year has been nothing but medical issues, but we strive to get these dogs the care they deserve.

Despite everything, Peaches is the sweetest soul with the most loving personality. Her foster family has been nothing but amazing to welcome Peaches into their home and give her the love she deserves!

Kita is a gentle spirit who is affectionate, obedient, good with other small calm dogs in her foster home, potty trained and ready for love. It’s with heavy hearts but so much love that we share an update about one of our most devoted longtime volunteers, Cheryl. 💔

On October 28, Cheryl suffered a serious health crisis that led to surgery for a brain abscess. She’s been in the hospital and now a nursing home. Through it all, her two beloved dogs, Zeke and Sophie, have been lovingly cared for by her wonderful neighbors and friends, Dorian and Kayla. We are endlessly grateful for their kindness during this difficult time.

Both Zeke and Sophie came to Cheryl through our rescue, and they’ve brought her years of joy, loyalty, and unconditional love. Now these sweet pups are looking for their next forever homes. They can be adopted together or separately, whatever is best for their future families.

Zeke 🐶 Black and white Terrier
• Birthday: March 24, 2017 (turning 9 this year!)
• Neutered male, Terrier/Jack Russell mix
• ~13.6 lbs of pure energy!
• Gets along great with cats and other dogs
• Zeke needs a specific home. He takes time to trust. He does have a bite history and needs someone who can go slow and let him adjust.

Sophie 🐕 White Terrier
• Birthday: January 7, 2011 (a wise 15-year-old senior!)
• Spayed female, Terrier mix
• ~27 lbs (she’s gained a little recently—her caretakers are taking her to the vet this week to check on that and keep her healthy)
• Cheryl’s loyal service dog who provided endless love, support, and comfort
• Prefers lounging at home over long walks these days. she’s a cozy companion who loves to relax
• Gets along wonderfully with cats and other dogs

These two have known only love and stability thanks to Cheryl’s big heart. We’re committed to finding them homes where they’ll continue to be cherished.

🚨Temp Foster Needed for Maisey 1/17 - 2/4 🚨

Maisey is looking for a temporary foster home!! She would be best with no kids and as the only animal in the house.

Maisey is a dog with a big personality in a tiny little body - she loves toys, tug of war, chasing balls, and climbing on top of high surfaces JUST as much as she loves snuggling up and taking naps while snoring next to you. she seeks out affection and loves attention, belly rubs, being brushed, an scratches under her collar.
She knows how to sit and is house trained. She is happy to go on walks and is working on her confidence outside on the leash - she doesn’t exhibit leash aggression but can freeze if she hears loud sounds or gets nervous.
Maisey can struggle in the house with other dogs when she gets overstimulated so I recommend being the only dog. She is super playful and can get territorial of her toys, crate, and sleep area so it’s important to learn to read her cues. If another dog is around she needs someone experienced in doing slow introductions and keeping them separate for periods of time so she has time to decompress separately. She will want to initiate play or resource guard when she gets excited so reading her body language and redirecting her energy will be needed.
She is the funniest little dog, super loving, and loves to engage so she would be a great friend to anyone who can give her the time and effort she needs!
We think she would do best as an only dog and no kids! She would also do best in a home where she doesn’t have to be crated, we noticed her behavior improved when there are less things for her to guard!

Duffie is looking for an urgent foster home! Sadly, she is being surrendered back to us 4 years later because her family can no longer provide the care she needs. 🥹

Duffie is spayed and vaccinated! She does have some anxiety so a patient foster would be best. She would love an active foster that can take her on hikes or long walks.🐾🐾

Duffie is the sweetest companion and loves to give kisses. She would be fine as an only dog or she would be fine with a submissive male pup.

🏡🐶 Penny is looking for her forever home 🏡🐶

Penny is a sweet, spunky, and delightfully amazing little girl with a whole lot of love to give. She adores her walks, enjoys learning new tricks, and will never turn down a tasty treat. She especially loves a good pip cup. Playful and energetic when it’s time to have fun, Penny is just as happy to curl up beside you for a cozy nap.

This cuddly sweetheart LOVES affection and believes she should always be the center of attention. She’s been known to gently nudge her foster brother out of the way—or even crawl under his legs—just to get a few extra pets. Penny is a smart girl! She already knows sit, lie down, touch, and focus, and she’s currently working on her recall during walks.

Penny gets along well with other dogs in the home, though she can become protective and a bit reactive when out on walks. She becomes very attached to her caretaker and also gets a little sad when you leave. She may cry for a bit, but she settles down on the couch and will greet you with the most dramatic (and adorable) welcome home—even if you were only gone for five minutes.

She gets chilly easily and absolutely loves bundling up in warm, fluffy blankets. Penny is still learning to feel comfortable around new people, and she does best with slow movements, treats, and gentle encouragement.

For 3 years, she was loved by her family… until they were suddenly deported. 😢 She and her brother ended up in the shelter for over a month, waiting for a reunion that never came.

Just two days ago, her brother found his forever home… now it’s Layla’s turn to leave the shelter behind and start fresh.

Meet Cheeks! 🐶💕
This tiny 4-month-old male Yorkie puppy weighs just 2-3 pounds and is pure sweetness from head to toe!
He was surrendered to the shelter from a breeding/hoarding situation with an elderly person in their 90s. We feel so lucky to have gotten him safe, his two siblings were adopted right away, and now it’s Cheeks’ turn to find his forever home!
This little guy is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet – gentle, loving, and full of puppy kisses. He would absolutely thrive in a home with other dogs to play and cuddle with. 🐕❤️

Friday Pupdate! 🌞🐾
Big love & little updates on our two senior Chihuahua sweethearts we rescued a few weeks ago 💕

Marc Anthony went to the neurologist last week and got another round of meds.
They’re thinking this is most likely an “old dog” vestibular episode (common in seniors!).
He has a follow-up in 2 weeks.
In the meantime, this angel is fully p*e pad trained, the absolute sweetest boy, and a total sun-bathing professional ☀️😴
Here he is living his best golden years life!

Little Caesar is thriving too! 💪🐶
We did discover a lump on his back foot (same side as his missing front leg), so we’re getting it checked at our favorite vet in Westlake this weekend.
Fingers crossed it’s just from him being a brave little tripod & shifting more weight to that leg.
He prefers being the only dog or with calm, chill friends (no wild playmates for this guy 😌).
And when it’s cold? He’s all about those cute little outfits! 🤣❄️

Our Story

We are a non-profit, Los Angeles Dog Rescue pulling small breeds from local shelters and working with international rescuers to re-home at-risk dogs from overseas.

We screen potential applicants to make sure the dog is right fit for their home. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees for adult dogs are $325 (puppies 6mo-1year are $350. Puppies under 6 months are $425). All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption, and come with a DWB ID tag.
