🐾 Backstory: Abandoned on a county side road with her 4 siblings—because some people don’t deserve dogs, but WE do.

🐾 Personality: She comes in HOT with excitement (like “I’ve had 3 espresso shots” energy), but give her a little love and attention and she melts into a sweet, wiggly puddle.

🐾 Bonus: She’s fully vetted and ready to start her life over with someone who actually deserves her.

💛 Aspen is Looking for Her Forever Home 💛
Life has been busy lately, but I finally have a moment to share about Aspen — and she truly deserves the perfect home. If I’m being completely honest, she would make an AMAZING farm dog.

Aspen the great pyreenes mix is the definition of a gentle, loving soul. She’s:
🐶 Dog friendly
🐱 Cat friendly
👧 Kid friendly
🐔 Chicken friendly
🦆 Duck friendly
🦃 Turkey friendly

She fits right in with everyone and everything!
She is crate trained, and she does great on a leash — she doesn’t pull, and I’ve been working with her to keep improving her leash skills.

If she has one “flaw,” it’s that she doesn’t like to come when she’s called. 😂 Aspen LOVES being outside, and when it’s time to come back in, she’ll turn it into a little game of keep-away. Honestly, that’s the only negative thing I can say about her.

If you’ve ever wondered who the heart behind Abandoned to Adored truly is — meet Anita, one of our incredible co-founders. ❤️ She’s the woman who keeps the lights on, keeps us moving forward, and makes sure every animal in our care gets the love and chance they deserve.

As many of you sadly know, Anita’s home recently burned down, and we heartbreakingly lost a few of our pack. Through devastation and unimaginable loss, Anita is still showing up every day for the animals who depend on her. That’s who she is — unwavering, compassionate, and the backbone of this rescue.

We are privately funded, which means every step we take forward is carried by you — our community.

Anita has been rescuing animals her entire life — bottle-raising calves, raccoons, squirrels, puppies, and kittens. Her passion for saving the vulnerable has never dimmed.

After suffering profound personal loss — making the heartbreaking decision to take both her mother and husband off life support within six months — she found healing by saving lives. With her two daughters, she discovered the power of giving second chances to animals who had nowhere else to go.

What began as a personal mission grew rapidly. As the number of animals in need increased, Anita knew she had to make it official. She called on Louanne, whose knowledge and dedication helped turn that mission into Abandoned to Adored. Four years later, they’ve built a rescue rooted in strength, resilience, and unconditional love.

When she’s not knee-deep in rescuing, Anita pours her creativity into her stunning boutique, Retro Rooster, working tirelessly to support both her family and this rescue.

We’re heading into single-digit temps soon, so our team is at the shelter this morning making sure outdoor pens are filled with straw and our dogs are ready for the cold ❄️🐾. This past week has really shaken everyone’s faith, and the truth is—we need help.

With over two hundred dogs in our care 🐕‍🦺🐕, we’re doing everything we can. Our fosters are amazing, but they can only take on so much ❤️.

Hey everyone, it’s Anita. Whew… I don’t even know how I did it. My plate is overflowing, I’m stretched beyond what feels possible… but I couldn’t not stop.

Yesterday, I was driving past Industrial Park and saw this sweet girl sitting quietly against a fence, watching cars go by. When I looked in my mirror, she lowered her head as another car passed without stopping. That was all I could take. I turned around.

Her paw pad is sliced in half. She’s in pain, she’s scared… and yet, she still wants to trust, still wants to love.

Here’s the truth—I don’t even have a proper place to put her right now. I’m already struggling to care for my own dogs after the fire. But how could I leave her there? Some hearts… you just can’t ignore.

I brought her home. ❤️ She’s getting veterinary care immediately, but I can’t do this alone. She needs care, supplies, and eventually a safe place to heal until she finds her forever home.
