Social media sometimes can be bad! But sometimes can be awesome! Last night was one of those times😊. I had a woman and her husband contact me from Bethlehem, PA (3hours and 45 minutes from me) on Facebook messenger. She found me as a pigeon rescuer. I answered her instantly. They saw a pigeon that was acting weird and couldn’t fly in front of a casino. I went on Facebook to Palomacy pigeon help group for pigeons (a worldwide pigeon rescue group) begging for help. This husband and wife stayed with this pigeon for 2 1/2 hours and took pictures and video for me and also drew where the pigeon was so that the rescuer knew exactly where to go. The husband also stayed with the pigeon while the wife went to the store to get food and water for pigeon. They were GREAT people! Thank goodness I got a response, and the pigeon was rescued!

Meet Firecracker! I got a knock on my door Sunday night and a lady named Annie had this little guy in a carrier. He apparently got hit by a firework residue while he was flying. He has a burn on his side under his wing. It’s healing nicely though. I don’t know which flock he came from, so he will be staying here with us in the aviary once he feels good enough to fly again.
He was terrified at first, but today we had a big breakthrough. I was preening him and he got all relaxed and his eyes started to close. Then he looked up at me as if to say “wow you really are a pigeon lady!” Then he nuzzled his little beak into my fingers multiple times❤️ 🐦

PLEASE HELP if you can…even $1 helps!!
The birds are hungry! They are eating so much extra since it’s winter time. They eat more to stay warm. It’s been so cold, day and night! Poor babies.
We’ve been rescuing pigeons since before 2018. Aviary was done in summer of 2019. We have around 240 pigeons now. We go through over 100 lbs of feed a week. Like everything else, prices went up sky high!
When we rescue a new pigeon, we don’t ask for anything to take them in. But they are a lifelong commitment. They can live from 20-30 years! That’s a lot of money and time we put into these babies for years. We barely ask for help, but we really need it now.

This little girl, Percy, came to us on September 1st from Jaimee Tuttle, a wildlife rehabber. Poor thing was attacked by a hawk, but Jaimee fixed her all up. She said Percy had a big hole in her chest that wouldn’t stop bleeding, and thought she had an injured wing. This is a pic when Percy was first introduced into the aviary. She was on this roof checking out all the pigeons

On August 27th, this sweet guy joined us. A nice couple rescued him from their yard. He was completely exhausted, hungry and thirsty. He didn’t even have the strength to fly any further. We were in NC at the time, so they kept him and took good care of him until we got back from visiting family. He gained strength and was able to fly again. The couple drove him the whole way here from Carlisle, so that he could live in our aviary.
We named him Tito, after the gentleman that saved him.

Look at this gorgeous boy we got on Saturday ❤️. He didn’t have a name. We were throwing a few names out there for him. I said “how about Channing” (for Channing mmmm Tatum). As soon as I said that, he cocked his head (so adorable I might add) and buried his beak into his crop as if he was being shy! We all started laughing and said “whoa you like that name?!” So in coversation, I mentioned the name about 3 more times and each time got the same reaction!

So let me introduce to you, yet another gorgeous Channing Tatum😂🐦🥰

I forgot to post these 2 weeks ago. Facebook wasn’t working and then I forgot about it. Bandit (left on big pic, and then under bench) and Mystery (right and sitting in fireplace) have decided to become best friends. At first, Mystery would just chase Bandit everywhere and Bandit had no interest in becoming friends. Within and hour, they were inseparable 🥰. They begged mommy and daddy to have a sleep over, where they got nice and cozy. So guess what? Of course, we gave in!!! Hahahaha. That’s where they slept all night. Is that adorable or what?!

The first pigeon, Mystique, we got from the vet has come a long way😊. First of all, we have to change the name because it’s a boy! He has gotten so strong and loving his new jungle gym in his cage. He comes out and gets to have full roam of the house. But the best thing…he loves him mom (or should I say my hand 😂).

He came from huddling in the corner the first couple days here to playing with mama on his jungle gym ❤️

Thank you to John Kolesar III for taking this baby to Cambria Vet to get treated. Then I picked her up a little bit ago.
She has a broken wing at the shoulder joint. She probably won’t be able to fly, but can live in the aviary with our other disabled pigeons❤️. They love it in there. We are Dr. Venas go to rescue🥰
