More than just cute faces, these pups represent decades of responsible breeding behind them. Thankful for my fellow (truly) responsible breeders who purposefully & intentionally breed in support of this incredible breed and ensure the health and genetics are preserved for generations to come. We catch ourselves being increasingly worried for the future with the amount of "Facebook litters" posted. Please do your homework and shop, adopt, and breed responsibility. There are so many people interested in selling puppies, find the people who are dedicated, knowledgeable, invested & interested in the future of the breed...

Please consider adopting if you truly don't care about titles, heath testing, genetics, ability, conformation, pedigree, ect..! Please don't support the flooding of a purpose bred breed with low quality, irresponsibly, ignorantly bred puppies.

Ask questions and demand a level of investment and knowledge from your breeder. If they don't care to learn, help them learn to care.

It's been a tiring week on this front....

Walking puppies is addictive. So much is taught and learned just walking pups through the woods and fields. These pups are 14-16 weeks and we go about 3 miles. We mix up gang running, small groups (like these three), individual, and pairing them with an adult. They learn important things like connection and learning to locate sound as well as where to run to find birds to simple things like getting untangled from briars, locating water, and crossing obstacles. As an amateurs the hard part, for us, is learning to let go. These pups are getting to the point everyone will need a GPS collar moving forward. They are being developed for field trials (well, one isn't) so we encourage range. These puppies are also bred to be genetically inclined to run like this. We have not introduced an e-collar at all yet.

These puppies carried the move this time well. You can see they slow down approaching that top corner then the white & liver pup comes up and gets them competitive with moving on and they took that very top treeline heading left. These pups are competitive with each other which is why individual runs are important too! Once I cut the video (as a good amateur handler after a mild case of "my puppies are running off" panic lol!) I "sung" to them and they are learning to locate that sound and use it as a beacon where to find me again. This time was perfect but trust me many times aren't and that's okay!

Few things are more satisfying than watching the light bulb come on with bird dog pups! 💡

Watching the early interactions and how puppies respond is so interesting. Who uses sight versus who uses scent in early birdwork is particularly fascinating. Who works faster once they are excited and trying to process info & who slows down when trying to understanding what they just experienced. Watching their curiosity or uncertainty quickly turn into boldness and drive. That bird ignites a little ember in their mind and we watch their maturity and purpose shift with each run after. Allowing puppies to experience things on their own and in their own time. Just a bird and a pup teaches them more than we ever could. Best advice: don't involve yourself, don't try to make things happen, don't gauge your success by what you see or hear on Facebook. Just let the learning be better a bird and a pup. The rest will fall in place.

It has been quite the week. One week ago today Katie & Vice's puppies were born. Early Tuesday morning Katie started running a fever. Long story short she ended up hospitalized with metritis (uterine infection) at Animal Clinic Northview and was discharged last night. Thankfully, her puppies have done incredibly well through everything and Katie is doing very well. We did elect to hospitalize the pups too as so they could continue to nurse - there's just no milk like the mom's milk! One week old and the pups have about 500 miles under their belt 😂 We are endlessly thankful for our veterinarians both at Sylvan Veterinary Hospital and ACN for helping us navigate this and make the best decisions for Katie & pups! It's been a long, stressful, week and we are thankful to have them home! (Photos are newborn photos)

We are SUPER excited for our repeat litter between Katie (Royal Flush H***y Tonk Girl) and Vice (Ch TJ's Tequila on Ice). This litter was everything we had hoped for and much more when we did it last year. It produced true bird dogs with an immense amount of drive, intelligence, and focused biddable minds. Vice improved Katie's tailset considerably and Katie contributed her strong range. The breeding truly complimented and improved. The litter produced our top upcoming field trial female "Beth". We do expect larger ranging pups but they want to go with you and have incredible natural pattern. They have amazing temperaments and really fun personalities. They produced dual quality conformation- good bone, balanced and functional.

Sharing some of my favorite shots (thanks to Jessica Carlson!) from the ABC horseback nationals in Booneville, AR. It takes a village to develop a dog and thankfully we have a great one and very special friends who help us along the way. It's been an awful year so we skipped going down. Always thankful for Al & Cindy Cropek for their efforts and expertise training & campaigning our dogs. Also, very thankful for Jon St Clair as he handled Ivy in the Amateur stake for us. Nothing like having the first time meeting a dog be to run it at a National event but rumor is they clicked very well! This wasn't our year to make it around clean but we were happy with both dog's efforts. Willie and Ivy had a great year and saw much success. We are very proud of them. Both dogs are home now for some much deserved R&R.

We have started field trial season and are pretty darn happy with the dogs. ☺ We have had some nice placements, but even the runs that didn't earn us a placement we are pleased with the performance...well...most the time 😂

Two year old Ivy has found success with Al Cropek handling and Cindy Cropek scouting, we are thankfulfor thir hard work and she DOES make them work! She has had a 4th place in OGD and 2nd in OLGD at the MI trials.

Aspen won both AD and OD at the Upper NY Brittany Club and was 2nd in OD at Susquehanna Brittany Club.

Maisy took 3rd in OD at Susquehanna Brittany Club

Ringo won AGD at Susquehanna Brittany Club.

Our own honorable mention is also a young dog need Drake who has been doing a great job getting around clean but is gaining confidence and range. We are very proud of him as well!

We are so excited and thankful for the judges for long days in the saddle and for using our dogs. We are blessed to have talented dogs and opportunity to enjoy this special sport that we come to love more and more each season!

Hope you will join us!!

The PA Brittany Club will be having a fun day on August 23rd. It's an awesome way to meet fellow Brittany lovers and learn more about the breed and sport. I'm not sure what we are doing yet but usually we do a grooming and/or show demo as well as field demos. You are welcome to bring your dog.

If you're free it's really a great time with some knowledgeable folk! The club is in Polk, PA and is a nice grounds with a clubhouse, parking, and limited electric hookups for camping.
