Huge thank you to Holland Western Horse Park for welcoming Renew this past Saturday. Four veterans from Renew’s Standing Watch program spent the morning tackling the Extreme Mountain Trail course as an opportunity to build on their unmounted horsemanship skills and trust alongside their horse partners.

Standing Watch is a unique and life changing program serving first responders, veterans, and active military. This program is provided free of charge and made possible by the generous giving of so many. It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that our beloved Red, whose registered name was Red Hot Yankee, passed away this morning after battling a brief illness.

He was surrounded by those who love him, including his pasture mates, Nomad and Jackson. He knew that he was loved deeply, and he told us it was time to go. It is never easy to say goodbye, regardless of the circumstances.

He served the Renew family faithfully and was a favorite of many - volunteers, participants, and staff - and we will be forever grateful for him and for the cherished memories that he leaves behind.

His gentle demeanor, kind eyes, and ground-covering walk will be missed. While we are at peace that he is no longer suffering, collectively our hearts are broken.

Please remember our herd in your prayers as they feel this loss, too. Remember all the lives that Red touched at Renew with gratitude. May we love and cherish each other more deeply today and in the days ahead.

Join us in remembering Red by stopping by his stall to look at photos, share a special memory, and sign his memorial photo frame. His stall will be available beginning on Monday, July 27th and will remain open through Friday, August 7th. All are welcome.

Dear Renew Family,

We have some bittersweet news to share.

After more than 4 years of service to Renew's beloved volunteer program - including the last 2 years as a dedicated Renew Instructor - Elizabeth Turner will be transitioning out of her role as Volunteer Training Associate on Monday, August 3rd.

We are endlessly grateful for everything Elizabeth has contributed, and we know many of you have felt her impact firsthand, whether through the volunteer program or her instruction of lessons.

We celebrate alongside Elizabeth, her husband David, and their daughter Eloise, as David recently received a job promotion and relocation opportunity. Although Elizabeth will be dearly missed by the Renew family, we're thrilled for their new adventure and will be keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this season of transition.

We're also excited to share that Julia VandeWaa, who many of you already know as one of our Renew Instructors, will be stepping into the role of Volunteer Training Associate. Julia will begin training alongside Elizabeth the week of July 20th to ensure a smooth handoff on Elizabeth's last day of August 3rd. Julia's personal experience as a Renew participant, volunteer, and, more recently, instructor has given her a unique perspective and skill set to continue the success of our volunteer onboarding and training program.
