Since its foundation in 1950 by Dr. Lawrence Schmidt and his wife, Eloise, our practice has grown from basic veterinary care to a full service clinic for household pets, including exotic animals. We offer extensive on site diagnostics, i

ncluding ultrasound, radiology, bacterial culture, cytology, and blood work. We also perform wellness exams and care for chronic illnesses, incorporating medication, surgery, and nutrition and lifestyle changes. Our pharmacy can compound and supply treatments at cost effective rates. We approach your pet's care as if they were our own, to give you a happier, healthier companion! In addition to pet health care, we also offer grooming and boarding services, where you can leave your pet in good hands. Below is Jack and at 24lbs, he is what we consider very obese.

Obesity can affect our pets at all ages and unfortunately it can reduce their life expectancy with us. Cats in particular have a hard time losing weight once they’ve gained it.

As little as two pounds above your cat’s ideal weight can put it at risk of developing some serious medical conditions.

Some ideas to help manage your cat’s weight:

-Avoid “free feeding”
-Attending your pets Annual Wellness Exams to discuss ideal weight for your cat
-Switching to a vet approved weight management diet
-Limit treats and use a low calorie treat
-Follow the correct portion size of food for your cat daily
-Weighing your cat regularly to track weight loss
-Get your cat to exercise (interactive toys, cat trees, etc.)

Consult with our veterinarians on the best course of action to manage your cat’s weight.
