We ordered some button quail eggs on Ebay. We let them rest a day and we put them in the incubator today. These eggs are so tiny and beautiful I can't wait to see what colors we get when they hatch. I hope they enjoy living on our little urban farm.

Trying another new thing this year because why not? These are an Italian variety of fava bean called Extra Precoce A Grano Violetto. I had a hard time finding non-conflicting info on when exactly to plant them outside here so we planted half in an outdoor raised bed and half we are starting indoors to plant outside just in case these get too much cold.

I learned about winter sowing this past winter and decided to give it a try. I drilled holes in the bottoms and tops of some clear plastic tubs, added organic potting mix, seeds, water and threw them outside. I can't believe how easy it was and I was able to start my garden a lot earlier than I usually do. I started all these on February 10th and I'm already seeing sprouts! 😁
