Winter is here! ❄️
A quick reminder of our seasonal policies to keep everyone safe and on schedule.
Weather & Travel
When road conditions get tough, our top priority is safe travel for our team and reliable care for your pets. We try to avoid driving out of town during blizzard-conditions/ice, but since our team is spread out between Bertrand and Holdrege, we can usually still reach all scheduled visits with no issues!
If a storm is predicted and you’re planning to travel, we’ll communicate ahead of time so everyone is on the same page and we have backup plans in place.
If a storm hits and you don’t hear from me, it means we have everything covered and your visits are all set! :)
In the mornings, we do our best to get up early and have our vehicles ready to go, but there may be days when we run 10–15 minutes behind due to our vehicles & road conditions in town. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Walk Guidelines for Winter
We always try to give our walk pups as much outdoor time as possible, we might even be out doing 1 or 2 little walks when it's 10º, however, on days when multiple long walks are booked and the weather is extreme, we can’t safely stay outside walking for several hours which is where these guidelines take over-
• Above 40°F: Walks as usual.
• 30–39°F: Walks may be shortened to 15 minutes or swapped for indoor enrichment if windy, snow or rain.
• Below 30°F, icy/snowing, or “feels like” below 30°F: No outdoor walks; indoor activities provided to burn energy.
• No walks in the dark: Early-morning and evening visits do not include outdoor walks during this time of year, we may do sniffari's around well lit areas of your yard if you'd like outdoor enrichment that's not a fenced in yard.
A Few Winter Tips
• If your pet has winter gear- booties, jackets, paw balm, etc. feel free to leave it out for us to use as needed.
• Towels by the door are super helpful for drying off snowy or muddy pets after outdoor time.
• Salted and cleared walkways make it safer for us to reach your home, especially during back-to-back visits.
