ORGANIZATION INFORMATION
Kit Kat Alley Rescue is in Hohenwald, Tennessee. It was established on March 18, 2018, as a volunteer rescue and later registered as a nonprofit 501c3 cat rescue on August 22,2022
Our mission is to rescue cats and kittens from the Lewis County Tennessee area and to stop the unwanted cat population through our transport and spay and neuter programs. We rescue cats that have

been abandoned, neglected, abused, sick, pregnant, or the ones that are at risk of euthanasia. Our goal this year for 2024 is to get 365 cats fixed and vaccinated and 100 adoptions. So far, from January 1, 2024, to this upcoming April 12, 2024 , we have fixed and vaccinated 84 cats. We currently have 4 board members, 1 potential board members in the review process, 4 volunteers and 4 foster parents.

Please help if you can. Kitten season, vet bills, testing costs, prevention medicine. is all of the rise. While we try to save as many as we can, we can't do with without your help. Your contribution is the backbone to this rescue. Please consider helping your fellow neighborhood cats that don't have homes, that are injured. Help us help others in the community that cannot afford vet bills for their beloved furry companions. We are trying to stay afloat this year. Please spay and neuter your pets. Even our rescue is filling the punch of rising costs. Thank you .

Emergency rescue: intake tuxedo: approx 5 days old (neonatal stage)
Rescued by Tammi Mumford. I dont know how she found it before she mowed the yard but she did. Im pretty sure that the mom thought this kitten was a lost cause. To be honest with myself, it may be. Right now, vets are closed. Calling my vet techs to call me.
This is probably one of my worst cases. Im saddened and grossed out. I saw a FEW tiny white maggots, no big deal. I can take care of that. Got the toothbrush, got the dawn soap ready, got the gloves ready. Washed the kitten in sink brushing the dawn soap and saturated that baby...and then...the tuxedo kitten went from black...to all white, this kitten was infested with maggots. In my years of rescue, I've never had in my hands a maggot infestation so bad. Kitten had ticks, infestation of adult fleas.
Unfortunately, that's not the worst part, 😕
A**l canal is away from the lining of the actual skin and there is a tiny opening where the umbilical cord is with maggots. Ive cleaned out what parasites werent attached as I need them to release from the body because pulling is not smart. Tiny dose of ivermectin, and i diluted an 8th of a capstar.

Im going to open up donations on this baby for Greenview Veterinary Hospital first thing Monday.
To be honest, this kitten has a 50% chance of making it. Ive done everything I can to remove any visible parasites. The kitten is resting and breathing. Kitten is comfortable, but critical condition. Im going to do everything I can to keep this kitten alive around the clock. Kitten is able to eat. Ive put neosporin on external area of the back side. Its a newborn, we cant do much without a veterinarian at this point.
Possible cost of what may happen.
Office visit $55,
Unfortunately, euthanasia $102
(Terminal stage)
I don't want to make that decision, but I will do everything I can to keep this kitten away from parasites at best, cleaned, fed, bowel movements, warmth, love, and round the clock care.
Im asking the community to donate to this babies care. I have venmo, cashapp, PayPal, zelle, or donations can be made to:

If you choose to rescue animals, I am going to give you some sound advice - Grow thick skin and don't care what people think of you. I have known people to lose the battle with their minds and we just lost a kind, caring individual in my rescue network. Compassion fatigue is real, but nothing is worth your life. No pet. No rescue. No person's opinion. Nothing.

In rescue, that person that tells you what an angel you are and how wonderful you are every time you pick up a stray pet thrown at their door will also be the first person who tells people how your organization is worthless when you don't have space to pick up the 30th pet thrown off on their property. It's ok.

In rescue, the adopter that leaves you the five star review about how wonderful everyone has been will change that review quick when they return the pet even though you have spent hours trying to keep it in their home. One star reviews are ok.

In rescue, your friend will be your friend until you deny their application for a pet because they are a great friend but a terrible pet owner. That's ok too.

In rescue, you will answer 143 calls in a day (yesterday to be exact). But if you miss 6 calls in a row while you are in the shower, you will be the one who "never answers their phone". It's ok.

In rescue, other rescuers and random trolls will judge everything you do but never have time to pitch in a hand to help when they see something needing more attention. They will, however, have lots of time to talk about how they’d do it better while they harass and judge you. It will be ok.

In rescue, you will have to involve animal control and the police department sometimes. The people who you take pets from will hate you - and I mean REALLY hate you. Trust me, it's ok.

In rescue, pets will be put down and pets will die at the hands of abusers. We can't save them all - and that's ok. We save the ones that we can and pray for peace for the ones we can't.

I have been in the animal rescue world since 2009. I have dealt with every problem and every situation imaginable. I used to take some things to heart, then I realized - I am doing this for the animals, not for any person in this world. I have found my joy and no person will take that. If you are in rescue, don't let anyone or anything take your joy. Find peace that you will never please everyone. Find peace that you will never save them all. Never allow something you love to turn into something that ends your life.

BE VERY CAREFUL.
Poison Hemlock (Conium maculatum) is up and about to flower!
This highly toxic invasive plant is spreading fast across Tennessee roadsides, fields, and fence lines.
☠️ Every part of the plant is poisonous to humans and animals—just touching or inhaling particles while cutting can be dangerous.
Look for tall, hollow stems with PURPLE spots and small white flower clusters forming now.
Avoid contact and NEVER mow or burn it.
If you suspect Poison Hemlock on your property, use
gloves and consult your local extension office for safe removal options.
Yup, got some in our yard.
Know what to look for—stay safe this spring!
GOOD ADVICE.

Welcome our 3 new intakes, 2 medium hair girls Siamese, 1 male Grey and white. 4 weeks old. If you can tell of you zero in on how many fleas are falling off of them. They are infested with fleas. They have been capstared, dewormed, bottle fed, bowel movements made, Heating pad on. If you can contribute to their care that would be super. We are definitely low on funds for kitty care. Please help us make a difference in these babies lives.
