POV: Mom and Dad got back from vacation and now I’m filing an official complaint with the sitter.

“Listen… I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. The snacks. The treats. The attention. The uninterrupted adoration.

But then you just… gave me back.

I watched them pull into the driveway. I made eye contact with you. We both knew I wasn’t ready.

Can you please explain why I you left me? Please get me out of this jail, all they do is try to feed me meds and give me kisses, it’s awful, I need to be free.

I would like to formally request a rescue extraction.

I’ll be waiting at the fence.

This one may make people laugh, but as a professional dog walker, I cringe and see something very different.

What I see is a dog walker who appears completely unaware of what’s happening around him. If the audio is loud enough to block out traffic, emergency vehicles, horns, people approaching, and even police trying to get his attention, that’s a serious safety concern.

When you’re responsible for a dog, situational awareness matters.

A distracted walker can miss:
🐾 A loose dog approaching
🐾 A car backing out of a driveway
🐾 A child on a bike coming around a corner
🐾 Construction hazards or debris
🐾 Emergency vehicles or first responders
🐾 Early signs that a dog is becoming uncomfortable, fearful, or reactive

One earbud at a reasonable volume? That’s a personal choice. But anything that prevents you from hearing and responding to your surroundings creates unnecessary risk for both the walker and the dog.

Professional dog walking isn’t just about getting from Point A to Point B. It’s about constantly scanning the environment, anticipating problems before they happen, and keeping the dog safe.

So while the video is funny, it’s also a good reminder:

Your dog shouldn’t have better situational awareness than the person holding the leash. 🐾❤️

Every day, three times a day, we visit a very special family at Encore Village.

Meet a devoted son and his mom.

Now, before you picture a human son, we should clarify… the son in this story has four paws, a wagging tail, and a heart completely devoted to his favorite person. 💜🐾

This sweet boy has spent his life by his mom’s side, and thanks to reliable care three times a day, seven days a week, they get to continue sharing their golden years together.

From his mom’s perspective, it’s priceless. She gets the help she needs in the place she calls home while keeping her soul dog right by her side. Together, they continue to enrich each other’s lives with companionship, comfort, purpose, and unconditional love.

And along the way, something unexpected happens. They build friendships with the people who help make it all possible. Familiar faces become part of their routine. Conversations are shared. Tails wag in excitement at the door. What starts as care grows into connection.

From his perspective? He’s simply doing his job.

Watching over Mom. Greeting her every morning. Keeping her company. Making sure she never feels alone. Being exactly who he’s always been—her loyal best friend.

Our visits help make that possible. We help with the daily care he needs so he can stay right where he belongs: beside the person he loves most.

Because sometimes the greatest gift isn’t just helping someone remain independent.

With more residents out enjoying the warmer weather, the Hoffman Estates Police Department would like to remind the community of several Village of Hoffman Estates Government animal ordinances intended to keep everyone safe and comfortable in our neighborhoods and parks.

🐶🐱Pets are not permitted to run at large within the Village and must be leashed when off their owner's property
📏Leashes may not exceed 6 feet in length
⚠️E-Collars and remote training collars do not qualify as a leash
💩Pet owners are responsible for promptly cleaning up and disposing of pet waste

These ordinances are enforced, and violations may result in fines.
