Feline Community Network is a nonprofit serving NW Indiana, focused on building a community-driven feline resource center through education, spay/neuter, TNR programs, outreach, partnerships, & support for both cats & the people who care for them. We’re here to support cats and the people who care for them through education, spay/neuter programs, community outreach, and partnerships with local res

We’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately.

Over the years, Feline Community Network has grown and evolved into something much bigger than what many people may realize.

Some know us as a rescue.
Some know us as a shelter.
Some know us for TNR.
Some know us through the gift shop.
Some simply know us as “the cat place.”

The truth is… FCN has become all of those things and yet so much more.

At our core, Feline Community Network has become Northwest Indiana’s feline safety net.

We are here to help the cats and situations that often fall through the cracks.

🐾 Community cats needing support
🐾 Cats in crisis needing intervention
🐾 Long-term and medical cats already in our care
🐾 Cats needing rehabilitation, sanctuary, and thoughtful placement

We also work to support the people trying to help them through education, resources, and guidance.

When we really break it down, our mission centers around three core areas:

🐾 Community Cat Support
Helping reduce suffering and overpopulation through TNR, education, and resources.

🐾 Current Cat Care
Providing daily care, rehabilitation, medical support, and sanctuary for the cats already depending on us.

🐾 Adoption Placement
Finding thoughtful, appropriate homes for cats ready for their next chapter.

FCN has never simply been about taking cats in and sending them back out. We've always focused on quality versus quantity.

It has always been about filling the gaps where help is needed most.

Helping the cats others overlook.
Helping the situations others cannot.
Helping where there often are no easy answers.

That is who we are.

That is what we fight for every single day.

And that mission matters now more than ever.

🌙 Before you head to bed tonight… have you voted yet? 🐾

Your daily vote means more than just a contest. It helps bring recognition, funding, and support that allows us to keep helping cats like Pretzel. 💙

Pretzel is one of the many reasons we keep pushing forward.

This sweet senior boy was abandoned in a home that was scheduled for demolition. Thankfully, someone took the time to check the basement before demolition began… and there was Pretzel, waiting to be found. Can you imagine?

Now, nearly two years later, Pretzel is still waiting. Waiting for someone to see him. Waiting for someone to open their heart and home to a senior kitty who deserves love, comfort, and safety.

Tonight, we’re asking for two things:

Dave is one of the colony cats that's been receiving help because of your donations to us. He’s come a long way and is doing better, but he still has a road ahead of him.

To the ones who scoop the litter,
Fill the bowls,
Hand out treats,
And somehow always end up with cat hair on everything…

Thank you for loving the ones with whiskers, attitude, and big personalities.

Whether you’re the lap they choose,
The human they follow,
Or the one they wake up at 4 a.m. for breakfast…

You are loved more than you know.

It’s hard to believe that 5 years ago yesterday, we experienced one of the most devastating moments in FCN’s journey, we were robbed at our old location.

The feeling of violation is something I’ll never forget. It wasn’t just about things being taken… it was the loss of security, peace, and feeling safe in a place we poured so much into. I spent almost 2yrs of blood, sweat, and tears pushing to build what I though would be our forever home. Truthfully, it became one of the biggest reasons we ultimately chose to leave that location.

What I’ll always remember most, though, is how our volunteers and supporters showed up. You came together, helped us clean up, lifted us up, and reminded us we were not alone.

I’ll be resharing the original day after post today as a reminder of how far we’ve come and how strong this community truly is. 💙🐾

Remember this girl? 💙🐾

She didn’t get here overnight, it's taken us 713 days to be exact.

It took time, patience, resources, medical care, and a whole lot of dedication to help rehab her and give her the chance she deserved. Today, seeing her thriving is exactly why we do what we do.

We’re so excited to share that Falafel has officially found his furever home! ❤️

Falafel arrived at FCN on 6/21/23, and just days before reaching his 3-year anniversary with us, he finally got the happy ending he deserved.

Lately, we’ve been blessed with some truly amazing adoptions, and moments like this remind us why we keep going. It means everything to see people looking beyond the wait, beyond the fear, and beyond the labels to truly see the incredible love these cats have to give.

So many of our long-term residents just need someone willing to give them a chance. A chance to settle in, to trust, and to show the amazing companions they can become.

We are incredibly thankful for the adopters who open their hearts to these cats and see their worth. Every adoption like Falafel’s gives us hope for the others still waiting.

Happy life, sweet Falafel. You waited a long time for this moment, and we couldn’t be happier for you. 🐱❤️
