We ventured out a little to Garrett to get this job underway. An exciting day, and very beautiful day too, to set the posts and get this prepped for the finish next week. One thing we prefer to do in the setting process is give the posts/concrete time to set up and cure (7days to reach 90% cure) and then 28days for full cure rate. So we like to give that concrete time to establish before we do anything that will start to stress it where other companies might try to start the finish process the next day. It’s just something in our long and rich history that says… patience is the key to longevity.

What is the key takeaway from this fence's situation? A "lifetime warranty" fence is only as reliable as the manufacturer and the company that installs and supports it. This fence, which features a "lifetime warranty," has been deemed irreparable by the original installer, who also claims to be unable to provide the manufacturer's information. Interestingly, the homeowner contacted us after being referred, and although the fence was not our installation, we were able to identify a repair solution. Due to the fence's unique 30" tall privacy design, we will perform a customized repair in our shop. Although the repair will not carry a manufacturer's warranty, it is clear that the original warranty was ineffective. We will ensure that the homeowner receives a satisfactory solution. This scenario highlights our commitment to customer service, as we were willing to assist the homeowner after five other fence companies refused to even assess the issue. By taking on this challenge, we have earned a lifelong customer and the referrals that come with it.

Job number two has been completed for the day. Upon closer inspection of the pictures, you will notice that we custom cut and notched the pickets to seamlessly integrate with the siding and brick basement wall. Would your typical fence contractor take the time to attend to such details or simply install a picket adjacent to the siding, leaving the homeowner to address the gap? We took the initiative to custom cut the picket for a beautiful finish because attention to detail is our standard. It's all about the details. Furthermore, we appreciate the other fence company that declined to provide a quote or undertake the work, citing it as something they couldn't do. Their decision allowed us to exceed this homeowner's expectations, resulting in their gratitude and future business. They have additional projects in the pipeline and have committed to working with us again. Once they relocate, we will be their go-to fence contractor for their next project. The takeaway is that even smaller jobs are valuable and important. Dismissing these opportunities can lead to missed chances at building long-term customer relationships, which can yield numerous future projects. Word of mouth referrals from satisfied customers can have a multiplier effect, expanding our reach exponentially.

A little fix job done this morning. The neighbors tree fell onto the fence. So we got called in to repair it. We needed up replacing 6 posts and installed a new gate and 2x’s and pickets. It wasn’t anything too crazy to get done but this homeowner really needed it to keep the foot traffic from the neighboring apartments out of the yard with their dog.

That’s not something you expect to find while digging a hole in a new addition in the homeowners backyard where there is absolutely no swale or drainage anyway. We started digging and found this buried about 14” down. A old gigantic metal culvert. (Approx 14-15” wide and 20” long.) We finally got it ripped out so we can get our post/hole prepped for the set. Def took a little extra time.
