The incredible story of K-9 Chinook

Officer Jeremy Puszakowski and K9 Chinook form a powerful new partnership in Euclid — one built on months of training, real‑world results, and a tribute to fallen Officer Jacob Derbin.

A retired police K-9 is available for adoption as his prior handler can unfortunately no longer care for the dog. We are helping try to find him a new home.

He is well trained in obedience, narcotics detection, tracking, and bite work areas. As an 8 year old working dog, he still has a ton of energy and will need consistent work and play.

Please inquire with us if you are interested in adoption.

K-9 Bella from Lorain County Sheriff’s Office recently graduated and certified in Explosive Odor Detection. In the final days of class, K-9 Bella’s handler, Adam Trifiletti, conducted a mock site assessment and explosive detection action plan for a dignitary coming to speak at a location within Lorain County. This assessment and action plan was presented to and reviewed by Sheriff Jack M. Hall and other staff members within the Sheriff’s Office. Congratulations to Adam and K-9 Bella!

On July 24, 2025, Euclid Police responded to a volatile situation involving a 17-year-old male who brandished a firearm and made threats during a fight among multiple individuals then drove off in a vehicle which was later stopped by police.

Officer Puszakowski and his K9 partner Chinook were called to assist—and Chinook delivered in a big way. Certified in firearm detection, Chinook quickly zeroed in on a suspicious bag tucked beneath the driver’s seat of the suspect’s vehicle. Inside? An AR pistol—a dangerous weapon now safely off the streets thanks to Chinook’s sharp nose and training.

This marks Chinook’s first official gun seizure, and we couldn’t be prouder of this four-legged officer. 🐶💪 Chinook poses proudly with the seized weapon—clearly aware he’s earned his badge in a big way. 👏 Let’s give Chinook a round of applause for a job well done! Here’s to many more successful finds and keeping our community safe.
