For those of you who don't know, we will no longer be breeding horses.

Over the last few years, we have had a lot of heartbreak and hardships. I myself have been struggling with a lot of health related issues that changed my life completely. In light of this, after having Dewey's genetic panel work done, we learned he carries a copy of PSSM1, contrary to previous results from older labs that are not associated with UCDavis and APHA. Not only this, be we have also learned that the Hank A Chiefton line is likely the bloodline that carries the gene. This means that the bloodline I hoped to save from extinction will officially become extinct with Dewey as he is the last known stallion alive with the bloodline. Not only this, but Dewey has developed Heaves. What was an allergy to a certain type of grass has blown up into heaves. Not does he have this issue, but his mother and full brother have also developed the same condition. My mission was doomed from the start. However, Dewey will be living out the rest of his days with me as he is now 17 years old. This spring I plan to do a lot of liberty training with him and maybe do a bit of riding. He still knows how to do tricks like bowing and counting. I am planning to geld him so he can spend the rest of his days with Esther who is now 20 and is still his favorite mare.

After three weeks of new grass and coming off of a very strange winter, getting Dewey back in shape is going way better than expected. I am in the process of getting him registered with Pinto Horse Association so he will be double registered and so will his foals.

I'm really excited for the possibility of breeding Dewey again. The reason I stopped breeding was because I let people get to me. I let them get into my head and let them tear Dewey and myself down. After getting a second opinion from several paint horse breeders and owners, my hopes were renewed. Dewey is an amazing stallion and there is less than 1% of horses from the Hank A Chief line left in the United States. I've had people from Canada, the UK, and Europe get in contact with me and it's unbelievable! I really want to reignite interest in the Hank A Chief horses in all disciplines while also improving the qualities of other lines. My goal is to get Dewey collected this year and luckily, we will have foals for 2025 around the country. I am going to be transparent and say that Dewey's motility and viability is unknown at this point as I have not bred him since 2018 and we always did Live Cover only. He does have three babies out there doing really well in the show ring and in training. He has one filly in training for barrels, one c**t in training for barrels, and one c**t that is in the hunter/jumper ring in his first year of showing. All other foals I have no idea where they are as they were never registered by the mare owners. The foals I personally bred and sold, I have been able to keep track of. So if you do have a foal that is by Dewey, please get in contact with me. I will be updating Dewey's genetic panel testing as there are more requirements since 2018 in order to register foals. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in breeding, I am debating on doing live cover for a select few people for 2024 foals, but I haven't decided yet. I seriously want to thank Ricky Lightning from Lightning Appaloosa's for all his support and positive energy! Here is to a beautiful future!
