We are a Non-Profit, No Kill, All Volunteer Animal Shelter in the heart of Hilton, NY dedicated to helping feline friends in our local community find forever homes. Our shelter was named after the late Kathleen Anne Tenny, a life long resident of Hilton, NY & animal lover. Kathleen passed away in 1991 and left her estate to the Town of Hilton so that an animal shelter could be established in our c

ommunity. After many years of hard work and dedication, the Kathleen Anne Tenny Animal Shelter opened its doors on October 22, 2002. Happily in the last ten years we as a shelter have taken in, cared for and adopted out more than 1,000 cats and kittens. We happily assist in the placement of cats/kittens in our local area but due to space restrictions, can only take in as many as we have room for. Sadly, there are so many more that need assistance than we can accommodate. We are officially closed after 20 years and no longer will be able to help find forever homes for cats & kittens in the area.

We would like to thank Kathleen for her gift to start the shelter, our volunteers and the community for their support, without them we would not have had a shelter.

My name is LuLu. I am a 10 year old all black, short haired female. I arrived at the shelter when I was a kitten 8 weeks old. I was very shy back then and would not let you humans get too close. As I got older I was getting over my shyness but still no one really looked at me too much because when they tried to pick me up I would scream. Now that I am a senior Kitty I have really mellowed with age. I no longer mind being picked up and do quite a lot of purring when petted. I also love to be brushed. I am available through the shelters senior for senior program but I know if someone came in and saw me I would make a great companion for them. Can someone please take me home and love me 😻
