It's no secret that we are pro-rescue and pro shelter pet at Lucy's Friends. This is for a variety of reasons and puppy mills are a big one. We hope you will choose to adopt, not shop. But if you simply *must* buy a dog, please do your research and know for sure that you're not buying from a puppy mill. And no, it's not obvious; many puppy mills have beautiful websites that look like small, clean, and ethical family businesses. They are not.

Peaches has been with LPR for almost 2 years. She came in with babies and they have all been adopted but Peaches is wondering why no one wants her to be a family member. She waits and waits with no visitors on adoption day. Come by the farm in Ridgeland to visit this girl on Fridays 11 to 1 or Saturdays 10 to 3.

We couldn't be more pleased about this!

A former Beaufort Marine pleaded guilty to five counts of animal cruelty.

This is after neglecting to care for five pets she was hired to watch by a Hilton Head Island couple, leaving one dog to die of starvation and another seriously injured.

Her conviction included two felonies and three misdemeanors, corresponding to the two dogs and three cats that were left alone in the house for days on end.
