Aloha Hilo community,

This Sunday, April 13th, emergency services will not be available as our emergency veterinarian will be at a conference.

If you do have a medical emergency on Sunday, please contact another emergency veterinarian. Our clinic will open again at 8am on Monday April 14th.

Do you have room in your life for a whole lot of love? Are you looking to add another member to your family?

Aloha Ilio Rescue is having an adoption event next Saturday, March 29th between 10am and 3pm at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.
There will be food, crafts, art, activities, and many furry friends so come on out, see the adoptable puppies, dogs, cats and support our local rescues and vendors!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We hope that you all have a wonderful holiday with your family, friends and fur babies! We sure will!

Just letting you all know that our office is closed 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/01.

If you have a pet emergency 12/24, 12/25 or 12/29 between 9am and 5pm, please call our office at (808) 935-7387 and select option 3. Your call will be forwarded to our emergency vet.

Emergency services will not be available on 12/31 or 1/01 so please be extra cautious with your furry family members during the new year celebrations.

If your pet needs sedatives for the fireworks, please submit your request by 12/27.

Mahalo for your contributed patronage this past year and we hope that your end of year is filled with love and precious moments with those you love and cherish!

Aloha Hilo community!

As the holidays commence, please be aware of some hazards that can occur during the celebrations.

-Decorations- Some plants used for decorations like poinsettias and holly are highly toxic to your pet.
Prevent your pets from having a foreign body or gastrointestinal obstructions.
Your pets should be supervised around your decorated tree, ribbon, tinsel, lights or ornaments as they may tempt your pets to eat or play with them.

-Food- If your pets aren’t used to eating human food, holiday foods high in fat like gravy or turkey fat may cause stomach upset and could possibly lead to pancreatitis.
Macadamia nuts, onions, dark chocolate, large quantities of chocolate, and foods that have xylitol in them are toxic for your pet as well.

Our clinic will be closed on Thanksgiving 11/28 and 11/29, but if your pet is in need of emergency services, our emergency vet will be available between 9am and 5pm. Call (808) 935-7387, select option 3.

Our clinic will resume regular hours on Saturday, 11/30 at 8am.

You do not need to be a current client to receive emergency services from us. Our clinic is currently accepting new patients.

We are also open on Monday 11/11, Veteran’s Day between 8am and 6pm.

November is National Pet Cancer Awareness Month! Did you know 6 million dogs in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer each year? Dogs hide illnesses really well, until it's usually more advanced and difficult to treat. In steps the new, Nu.Q test! This test treats for common cancers like lymphoma and hemangiosarcoma. It is a good idea to have your pet cancer screened if they are; 7 years or older, or have a higher risk of cancer due to breed predisposition or family history.
This month we are offering a discount on our Nu.Q test! We want to be able to treat this nasty disease BEFORE it's progressed!
Please feel free to call our office and schedule an appointment to have this test ran if you are worried your pet may be at risk of cancer, or to just put your mind at ease. Mahalo!

Aloha Hilo community!

Just a reminder that emergency services for your fur babies are available on Sundays and specified holidays between 9am and 5pm. If you call our number at (808)935-7387 and select option 3, our emergency vet should get back to you within 15 minutes if not already tending to an emergency.

As the holidays come around, please be extra-diligent in preventing food-related and decor-related emergencies.

If you would like to request sedatives to help your pets during the new year celebration, please have a recent physical with your vet and submit your request at least 5 business days before the holiday.

If you are in need of emergency services, please call our clinic at (808) 935-7387 and select option 3. You will be directed to our on-call vet.
If you did not get through or get a call-back within 30 minutes, please try again or contact another veterinarian as our vet may be taking care of another case.

Happy Labor Day everyone!

The clinic is closed today, but emergency services are available on a case by case basis.

If you are in need of emergency services today and on Sundays between 9am and 5pm, please text the clinic at (808) 935-7387 with a brief description of your pet’s condition and our staff that’s on call will get back to you when they are available.
Please be aware that if our doctor hasn’t gotten back to you between this time, she is most likely taking care of another case.
You can also leave a message by calling the same clinic number and selecting option #3.

Please have a safe day and if there is anything non-urgent we can help you with, our clinic will be open tomorrow at 8am.
