We still have many blueberries due to a light number of pickers these last few days. You can pick a final supply of the Berkley's, which are easy to find and deliciously sweet, that you can enjoy for days! Come see us on this lovely day, our last for this year - we are open until 2:00pm!

I checked the field this morning and found a good number of the Berkley variety blueberries survived the extreme heat on Wednesday, these are found inside the bushes where the leaves protected them. They are very sweet and yummy, but smaller in size, so the bucket doesn't fill as fast. There is some Bluecrop variety to be found, but it is scarce. Overall, the remaining good fruit will not last into next week and there is little green left to ripen, so our last day will be this coming Saturday, July 19 - much sooner than expected.

After picking in the blueberry field this past evening I found that the Berkley variety is still plentiful, but the Bluecrop variety has gotten hard to find. You will find the best fruit inside the bushes where it is shaded by leaves, as the direct hot sun is softening berries exposed to it. With our large, shady Berkley bushes, much of this fruit will hold up in the heat for a while, but it's best not to wait. Continuing hot weather is going to shorten our season as it quickly pushes the remaining berries to ripen and those already ripe toward over-ripening, so we might not make it to the end of July.

On very hot days we will be closing early in the afternoon. Here are the hours looking out a week based on the current forecast:
Tues-Thurs July 15-17: 8:00am-2:00pm
Fri July 18: 8:00am-6:00pm
Sat July 19: 8:00am-4:00pm
Sun July 20: 10:00am-4:00pm
Mon July 21: 8:00am-6:00pm

I was out picking in the field this morning and again found no shortage of blueberries in the Bluecrop and Berkley varieties. The large, sweet and tangy Bluecrop berries grow in large clusters making it easy to fill a bucket quickly. The Berkley berries have a lighter sweet flavor and are found in smaller clusters scattered among the bush, but are sweet even if not fully blue. Finding the Earlieblues has become a bit of a treasure hunt, but their late-season deep, rich flavor can make the effort worthwhile. There is a long stretch of hot weather in the forecast which will make the last of the Earlieblues become overripe soon. We still have many berries ripening in the Bluecrop and Berkley varieties, so these will be good for several weeks, likely through the end of July.

We continue to have an abundance of blueberries in the Bluecrop and Berkley varieties! The Bluecrop are very large berries and when picked dark blue at this time of their season, their sweetness rivals that of the Earlieblues, those berries not at their peak provide a tangy sweet flavor. The Berkley has a mix of berrry size and a lovely sweetness, a delicious alternative to the Earlieblues that are at the end of their season. We expect to have berries through the end of July.

With the hot weather forecast, we will be varying our open hours. Here are the hours for this week based on today's forecast:
Sun July 6: 11:30am-5:00pm
Mon-Tues, July 7-8: 7:30am-2:00pm
Wed-Thurs, July 9-10: 8:30am - 6:00pm

We continue to have our field full of ripe yummy blueberries in the Bluecrop and Berkley varieties! Only the Earlieblues are becoming harder to find and some are beginning to soften as they approach the end of their season. The Berkleys are a lovely sweet alternative to the Earlieblues, and tend to be larger. The Bluecrop berries are very large with a tangy sweet flavor, they only reach a fully sweet flavor when picked at the peak of ripeness (very dark blue). We expect to have berries through the end of July. We will be open a partial day on July 4, 9:00am-1:00pm. Otherwise, we are open Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6:00pm and Sunday 11:30am-5:00pm.

We continue to have an abundant supply of blueberries - in all varieties! The Berkley's have ripened and are now easy to find as are the Bluecrop which are loaded with both ripe and green, indicating we still have weeks of picking ahead. The Earlieblues are fully ripe and can easily be found further out into the field where there are rows still hanging full of these sweet berries - but these won't be around as long as the other varieties since they started two weeks earlier. We are open Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6:00pm and Sunday 11:30am-5:00pm (note the later start time for Sunday). We will be open a partial day on July 4, 9:00am-1:00pm.

Our blueberry bushes are hanging full of ripe, delicious berries as the Bluecrop variety is read for picking as well as the Earlieblues, of which there is still an abundance! The Bluecrop is our largest berry and has a tangy sweet flavor (compared to the warm sweetness of the Earlieblues) making it a favorite for fast and easy picking. The Berkley variety is also making an appearance with many ripe berries if you want an early start on those. We are open Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6:00pm and Sunday 10:30am-5:00pm. The Earlieblue blueberries continue to ripen so the bushes are hanging full of these sweet berries making picking very easy. We are open Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6:00pm and Sunday 10:30am-5:00pm. The Bluecrop is ripening and should be in good supply at the end of the week.

We continue to have an excellent supply of the Earlieblue variety of blueberries ready for picking! Note that our field has grass between the rows and in the parking area so there is no need to deal with muddy grounds if you come pick between rain showers. 😀
