🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Courtsey POST🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟With a heavy heart, I’m looking to rehome my sweet Standard Poodle, Balencii. He’s just over a year old, a beautiful red, and full of love, personality, and loyalty. He’s AKC-registered, microchipped, and fully up to date on all vet visits and vaccinations.

Balencii is incredibly smart, playful, and gentle — especially with children. He’s crate-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. He does best in a home where someone is around often. He struggles with separation anxiety, so he needs a patient and present home that can offer time and emotional support.

He’ll go to his new home with:

Crate
Dog bed
Leashes + harness
Dog food
Toys
Grooming supplies
This is not a quick or careless decision. I want him placed in a loving, stable home with someone who truly understands the needs of a Standard Poodle. He is an in-tact male, so please only inquire if you’re experienced and ready to commit.

Rehoming fee applies — serious inquiries only. Message me for details.

Located in Tallahassee, FL. If you’re interested, please send a message with a little about you and the kind of home you can offer Balencii.

Please email me at [email protected]🌟🌟🌟

Cole ... Just saying his name still brings my heart to a place that still haunts my memory. Losing Cole found my world caving in. That darkness is still with me. They say there is that "one" that gets inside the wall a rescuer builds. Oh boy did Cole get inside - deeper than any one could think possible.

April 22, 2025 would have been Cole's 3rd birthday. When we celebrated his 1st birthday the day was so amazing and special. We know Cole meant so much to so many. In memory of Cole we chose RED as his color. The heart diseases and abnormalities that brought him to us is what took his life. (Heart association also uses red to symbolize the heart)

If you are so inclined, would you wear your favorite "Cole" t shirt or something red in celebration of his life and 3rd birthday in doggie heaven tomorrow (Tuesday)

If you get a moment, share a pic with us.

Mandy and puppies update (born 3/29/25)

Day 23 and we have so much to be proud of. Mandy has been such an amazing momma. As puppies go she is right on schedule with development and nursing.

Mandy still has her cone on. Feral or semi feral dogs prefer not to be handled for fear of harm. Slowly Mandy has begun to trust Diane but is still very protective of her babies. Purely lovingly, Mandy feeds and cleans her babies. She has begun to take hot dog treats by hand but let's put a low growl as her way of telling Diane it's her job to care for the beans. We've partnered to get some tranquilizer for her so the little family can travel to the vet for their vaccines and a physical.

We have 2 males and 2 females (visual made) and they need names. If you'd like to name one - for a $75 donation to cover the vaccines and honor of naming one please use the following link and put the puppies name in the required field.

Offsetting the ongoing costs to raise this little family helps our mission to provide top care until adoption.

In honor of National Animal Care and Welfare Appreciation week we are sharing behind the scenes thoughts and programs that assist in making any shelter, rescue and boarding program successful.

It begins with you. In 2009 when we first launched Paw Paws Pet Rescue we never imagined the "other" side of being the decision makers and caregivers. The depths of what it takes to be successful and how many hands one needs to make things successful.

The reason differs for every person in animal welfare regardless of position in the endless ladder of services provided. The sunset provides a stunning background to my answer - time. We began this rescue because of our want and ability to provide more time to those in need. Time they wouldn't have if we hadn't said yes. (And boy did we say yes 😂) The time that is spent behind the scenes on each pet is priceless to them. It's time to go home is the hardest answer to provide. For many that reach the rescue ranch it's the first time for many firsts once they realize they are safe. Watching them enter the yard; getting off the leash to explore and run freely; food water and a soft bed. Time. It's what they need and those who choose to go into animal welfare are providing because it's a calling of sorts.

Every rescue and shelter needs volunteers. Your time is truly a gift to those who need the assistance. When you think you don't have the time take a moment to ask yourself if you don't have the time who will continue to give those in need of more time? The answer is you. An hour a week. See how your help can make a difference. Your time will make a difference in the world of so many animals in need.

To volunteer, contact a rescue or shelter in your area.

Thank you for your "time" reading this note of appreciation 💝

The Emotional Impact of Rescue – What People Don’t Always See 💔🐾

Rescue work is often portrayed as inspiring—and it is. But behind every rescue is a weight that’s rarely spoken about.

Rescuers and carers often suffer quietly:

🌧️Compassion fatigue – constant exposure to suffering wears you down.

🌧️Burnout – the emotional cost of always being needed, of never being able to do enough.

🌧️ Witnessing trauma – seeing neglect, cruelty, abandonment.

🌧️Making impossible decisions – when you can’t save them all.

🌧️ No support system – many carers work alone, with no therapy, no backup, no rest.

And still—they show up. Every. Single. Day.

Some rescuers carry multiple responsibilities and that in itself is taxing.

A full-time job, household responsibilities, family obligations, owned pets - not including fosters. Rescue comes with many hats and there are many that don’t just juggle one role.

We need to talk about the emotional toll of caring.
Because the truth is: saving animals often breaks the people doing the saving.

If you know someone doing rescue work—check on them. Help them. Listen.

They carry more than you realize. 🐾💕

In honor of National Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week and to all of the individuals involved in Animal Welfare, doing far more than anyone truly understands.

We see you... 💓

Ewan update - day 25

Our little guy is healed and urinating without any issues. In fact, it's full on puppy mode for this handsome bean. Some of the antics of a 9 week old puppy keep the other dogs on alert of their personal space.

Ewan loves toys and can be seen sneaking shoes & kitchen towels as he runs thru the family room/kitchen areas. Ewan is very smart also. He totally concentrates and listens well. He knows his name and we are beginning potty training and scheduling.

Ewan will receive his next set of vaccines and is still looking for his forever family. Before you ask - we do not know how big he will get and it's very apparent that he is a full bully breed. (He was a breeder puppy - the vets office had them for exams) He's very loving, playful, eager to please and currently crate trained making potty training easier.

To apply to adopt Ewan:

Adoption fee: $350.
Includes: All medical care provided and follow up care for his recent surgery, age appt vaccines, monthly Nexgard Plus, microchipping and neuter surgery at 20 weeks. Must agree to background check, home check, references and vet check.

November 2014 - That fateful day we received the first picture at 2am courtesy of I couldn't go back to sleep. Kirby and I worked all night looking for transport for this girl - she was outside of Atlanta and we knew nothing - age, size, s*x, breed. Who cared at that point? We needed to get the dog out and get the dog here.

Russell was at the front door at 8am in which the new journey was beginning. He took the pup home, gave her a bath and named her: Sweet Pea. A line of drivers were waiting their turn to help on that Thursday ... and the little girl named Sweet Pea was fading fast. Each driver was unsure she was going to live - no lie. Her body was limp and now it was a race against time.

We rave about Dr Arbo. Rightfully so. He saved this girl's life - her foster dad Gary loved her beyond loving any dog. Each day she gave all of us hope that we were doing the right thing. Now 11 years later, I look at her and know that what we all do on Team Paw Paws is worth every tear - every sleepless hour - every mile driven. I never regret any dog we rescue. I never give up hope.

Sweet Pea is the face of our rescue. She is the hope for all the dogs that have followed behind her. She is representing the tomorrow of every dog that steps into PPPR and into the hearts of our volunteers and supporters. One of many - Many more to come.

Rest in peace sweet girl .... Your face will always be in the forefront of our rescue. Today - we cry for our loss and heavens newest angel. Never stop running around and playing.
