Rescued - Mom Corn & her "Cornlettes" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Corn on the cob with 3 baby ears" describes a single main ear of corn with three smaller, immature ears growing from the same stalk or shank, a phenomenon that can be caused by factors like genetic predisposition, environmental stress (such as cold temperatures), or damage to the primary ear. While most corn plants are bred to produce a single main ear, these abnormal formations of secondary ears are often smaller and may not fully develop or pollinate, with the primary ear typically remaining dominant πŸ”

River update - day 87

Our CHF dog is keeping everyone guessing on what is going on with him. As you can see by the radiographs - the abdomen is not as enlarged with fluid as he was on intake.

River keeps us on our toes. We went for his check in with Dr Mike and he is impressed with how well River has been doing. Let's see where we are with treatment plans:

βœ”οΈRiver has gained almost 4 # - which is rebuilding of his muscle mass rather than fluid buildup. Current weight is 46 # πŸŽ‰

βœ”οΈ Medications have been appropriately adjusted and currently on meds every 12 hours

βœ”οΈAs of now we still can't fully see his heart. It requires an echo ultrasound with a specialist. Dr Walker recently opened his Specialty Medical office in Wildlight and Dr Mike has given us the referral to get this procedure done

βœ”οΈRiver is a playful, energetic, bull in a China shop deaf dog that keeps us on our toes. He plays tug o war with the other dogs , is a collector of toys and will taste test anything you give him. He wiggles and jumps around with excitement and has a heart filled with love. Let's just say he's a velcro dog and he is with Papa & Michele 24/7 πŸ’•

Next on River's journey will be to find out exactly what's going on with his heart. This test will be required to move forward with UGA if that's an option.

River has surpassed his "estimated" survival time and we are determined to keep moving forward. At 18 months old we know this sweet pup has the determination to keep fighting for every breath and every tomorrow.

We appreciate everyone's thoughts and ongoing prayers for River. They mean everything to him and our team.

Day 91 ...

We did it with precision and clarity - in home dialysis was a successful transition for Papa. We trained for 87 days at the Mayo Clinic Dialysis Center - 4 days a week - 6-7 hours a day (including travel) - encountered challenges & made some wonderful new family friends - Kent's dialysis team. We've continued to keep all appointments with the team of Dr's, transplant coordination and nutritionist. The bulk of each day revolves around the requirements of keeping Kent going until a donor is located

It's not been an easy journey. We've put everything on hold to get to this point and our hearts are filled with gratitude to all who have been supportive & patient with our efforts to keep the rescue afloat during our scheduling challenges. We couldn't have maintained it without helpers and our rescue family.

As we move forward we will begin to get the rescue back into full swing and welcome the changes we are experiencing with life. The 27 dogs up here have been troopers throughout the upheaval. Clearly we know that the ranch is magical and our dogs have shown great skill adjusting to helpers, volunteers and off timing of their schedules. Once again, thank you to those who never skipped a beat. Your dedication to the dogs has kept them grounded and hearts filled with love.

Blessings come when you least expect them too πŸ™

We received a gift of food, toys and treats from a very generous community partner - Redbones Dog Bakery contacted us and told us "a very generous donation" was made to purchase items for animals/organization that would benefit from his kindness. Wanting to remain anonymous - we hope he knows how much this gift helps out our organization.

Our sincerest thanks to Martinique at Redbones and Kelly with Tails of the Trail for always remembering the dogs we care for.
