I am a hobby breeder located in Hilliard Ohio. My babies are handled from birth until they leave my home. All are raised around dogs and kids.

They are fed the best foods and given treats.

Thinking About Adopting From FaryTail Rattery? Please Read!

Thank you for your interest in FaryTail Rattery! I love helping my rats find wonderful homes, but before inquiring about available rats, there are a few important things every potential adopter needs to know.

Adoption Requirements:

All potential adopters must be 18 years of age or older and complete an adoption application.
Please read the entire website before applying!
Rats must be adopted in pairs or more, and I only place rats in same-sex homes.
I require proof of a fully set-up cage, including bedding, hammocks, and toys. Photos must include a piece of paper with your name and the current date.
Rats are not placed as gifts for children, and I do not place rats in homes with children under five. Please review my full policies for additional household restrictions.

Adoption Fees & Payment:

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your rats.
The remaining balance must be paid before the rats are handed over.
Venmo is currently my only accepted payment method.
Adoption fees vary depending on the rat's variety, breeding line, and age. Please review the pricing page for details.

Pickup & Meetups:

I am located in Hilliard, Ohio, and currently offer pickup only.
Public meetups may be available within approximately 30 minutes to an hour of my location, when possible.
A gas fee may apply to meetups and will be discussed beforehand.
You must bring a suitable, secure travel carrier. No carrier means no rats will be released.

Existing Rats & Quarantine:

If you already have rats, you must have a separate quarantine or hospital cage ready. A minimum two-week quarantine is required before introducing new rats to your existing mischief.

Returns & Lifetime Responsibility:

If you can no longer keep your rats, please contact me. I will take them back or help you find another suitable home if returning them is not possible. Refunds are limited and subject to my refund and return policy.

Closed Rattery:

FaryTail Rattery is a closed rattery operated from my home. For the safety of my family, my other animals, and my rats, I do not allow visitors inside to view the animals.

A Few Final Things While I do my best to raise friendly, well-socialized rats, every rat is an individual. Personalities may change as they settle into a new environment. If you experience biting or serious temperament concerns, please contact me so we can discuss the situation.

Not as many babies as I’d want to find homes but it’s what I have at the moment. More to come soon.

All these are males. Must go in pairs. They are Siamese. 2 are red eyed and 2 are black eyed. I do prefer that one red eyed and one black eyed go together. It helps tell them apart. I will open the application for those that are interested in these boys. Please fill it out and them follow up with photos of your cage. Remember all photos must have a piece of paper that has your name and the days date on it.

In other news I am hoping to get updated photos of the babies sometime this coming week. So look forward to cute Halloween themed photos.

Wanted to get an update on the litters.

They are all doing great. I’m slowly testing their temperaments. It’s been put on hold due to me having surgery but I’ve been slowly getting through things with them.

The babies are growing like weeds and all are in their jumpy phase at the moment. None really run from me but they do want to explore. I mean what baby doesn’t want to just go explore and play? They haven’t tried to bite or anything. There are still 6 hairless. Still debating if I’m keeping any. Only time and temperaments will tell.

A little update on one of the litters.

They are doing amazing. Loving the outcome of makings and colors. Hairless not so much. While I do not mind hairless, it’s not something I truly want to breed for. So if it pops up like it did here that’s fine. But I will not actively breed for it. Anyways, I am not sure how many of these may be available. It all depends on their temperaments when they get older.

It’s been hectic here. Paired 8 girls. 6 of the 8 took. One girl gave birth last week. Unfortunately her litter didn’t make it. Then came another litter and good news is all babies are thriving. Some are even hairless. Following that there were 4 other litters born. 2 of the 4 didn’t make it but the other 2 are thriving. Between the 3 litters there are 35 babies. I will try my best to update with how they are doing. There may not be many updates as I have a few personal things going on. But I will try to do it as much as possible. I do not know if any of these will be available as I will need to watch how they progress in temperament.

I am looking for experienced homes only.

I have a couple litters that are more on the side that doesn’t truly like to be handled much. Not aggressive thankfully. But I’m looking to place the males only at the moment. So if you are looking for males that you’d be willing to work with a little with handling please reach out to me. They must go in trios. If you haven’t had rats in a couple years please reconsider reaching out. Meaning haven’t had them in 3+ years. I will post photos once I get them or I can send them to you individually. Also keep in mind some of these babies are red eyed.

So please reach out to me if you have experience with rats that do not like to be handled as much as others.

Some exciting news!

I have my down unders back. I thought I lost the line but a fellow breeder helped me with not totally losing that side of the line. Once these guys are out of quarantine I plan to pair them and work with the line some more. So watch for updates on them!

This is an update post.

While I’m still closed to the public, I am planning things still. I’m working more on my lines to get them where they need to be. This isn’t a post where I’m saying that I’m not breeding anymore or forever not placing with the public. It’s more of a I am working on what I need to. I’m hoping that these next few litters will help with that. I will still post my progress with my lines but the litters will not be available anytime soon.
