Dr. Lister is excited to announce the arrival of the newest member of the Lister Family! Blue Skies is currently not seeing patients while Dr. Lister is on her maternity leave. Dr. Lister will be back to providing high quality, compassionate, end of life home-care at the beginning of the new year. Thank you to the community for your understanding!

Blue Skies will be closed from July 3 to July 6. All voicemails, texts, and emails will be returned the evening of Sun July 6. Appointments will resume Monday July 7.

Dr. Lister will be unavailable for appointments from May 1 - May 14. She will also be unavailable for phone calls for the majority of that time as well. Phone calls and texts will be returned after May 11, and appointments will resume as normal on May 15.

Deciding to euthanize a pet is one of the most difficult decisions you may ever have to make. How do you know when it's time? How do you know when your faithful friend is truly suffering? Below are a few tools to help:

- Talk to your veterinarian, or schedule an end-of-life consult. Your veterinarian will give you a professional medical opinion and can answer any questions you may have.
- Look at pictures or videos of your pet before their illness. Changes can be hard to recognize, as they are often gradual. Remember how your pet looked, behaved, and interacted with you.
- Write down a few things your pet likes to do, such as greeting you at the door, going on walks, enjoying their meals. When your pet's quality of life is poor, they often stop doing the things they usually love to do.
- Use a calendar to mark down your pet's good and bad days. When bad days outweigh the good, it may be time to consider euthanasia.
- Complete a quality of life scale, as found in the link below.
