**UPDATE** Owner was found, and he was returned to them!

Does this little guy/gal belong to you? It was found on Desiree Lane in Highland Village when it flew into a resident's house. If this is your bird, or you know who it belongs to, please give Wes a call at 469-444-0915 to make arrangements.

We received an update that Freddy, now renamed Pip, is settling in nicely in his forever home and remembering how to play and be a puppy again.

Life in the shelter can be stressful for dogs, making it difficult to see their true personalities. Now that Pip is comfortable in a home and being loved on, his playful spirit can shine through once again. We couldn’t be happier for Pip and his new family. Congrats, Pip!

Meet Clyde! A two-year-old pittie with a big personality. Clyde is always up for an adventure, whether it’s an early morning walk, squirrel patrol, or a game of tug-of-war. However, he is more than happy to curl up next to you for chill time. Clyde’s foster says to expect a very affectionate best friend who never wants to leave your side.

Clyde is crate-trained, potty-trained, and trustworthy when left home alone. He’s smart, curious, food motivated, loves showers, and already knows basic commands like “sit.” At bedtime, he willingly heads into his crate when the lights go out. In just two weeks in foster care, Clyde has made great progress, and his foster mom loves him so much she has even offered to dog-sit in the future.

Clyde is great with other dogs and enjoys having playmates, especially dogs of similar size. He would also do well as the only dog in the home. He has never shown aggression, but a home without cats would be best. Clyde is currently on heartworm medication and has not yet been neutered. The adoption fee is waived.

If you are looking for a loyal adventure buddy, Clyde may be your perfect match. Contact Wes at 469-444-0915 to schedule a visit. https://tx-highlandvillage.civicplus.com/795/Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet

Freddy is a 10-month-old Labrador-Shepherd mix weighing about 50 lbs. He arrived at the shelter with his brother Chucky, and the two loved playing and spending time together. Since Chucky was adopted, Freddy has struggled with his confidence and misses his companion. Despite this, Freddy is still a young pup with so much love to give. With patience and reassurance, he will blossom back into his playful, happy self again.

Freddy gets along well with other dogs and cats, making him a great fit for many homes. He is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and ready to leave the shelter today.

If you’re ready to give Freddy the loving home he deserves, contact Wes at 469-444-0915. https://tx-highlandvillage.civicplus.com/795/Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet

Shout out to the Denton Area Running Club- DARC Dog Runners for their continued support, amazing volunteer work, and for providing these videos of Freddy.

Spotting a raccoon or a fox while the sun is out doesn't mean they’ve forgotten their bedtime—it usually just means they’re working overtime! Whether they are out foraging for a snack, busy raising their young, or simply adjusting to the hustle and bustle of our growing city, seeing wildlife during the day is actually quite normal. While we love our wild neighbors, we want to keep them (and you) safe. If you see an animal that is visibly injured, limping, or acting unresponsive, that’s when it’s time to give us a shout. Check out the guide below for what to look for, and remember: being "up and about" isn't a crime, even for a skunk!

It's that time of year! As nesting season wraps up, you're likely to see young birds out and about on the ground, but don't assume they're in trouble. Check out this guide to understand the critical difference between nestlings and fledglings, and why most of these 'grounded' birds are actually right on track.

Keep your pets and family safe! In Texas, it is the law to have your dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies by 16 weeks of age. Rabies is 100% preventable, but it remains a serious threat in our local wildlife, particularly among our 'High-Five' high-risk species: skunks, raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and bats. Protect your furry friends and help us keep our community safe—make sure your pets are up to date on their shots!
