Cook is doing so wonderful. He is definitely a “problem horse” and not so much a “c**t start”. I finally feel like we are at ground zero and can actually work to increase knowledge instead of just staying alive throughout the session. I wish I got some videos of me mounting recently, he sits still now! & a vid of his running off shenanigans, he did it a few times before I pulled out the long line. I don’t like having a bunch of stuff hanging all over the place but, we had to do it! If he has a moment, he comes back quickly and the blind bolting is basically gone. I won’t say all gone cause he might prove me wrong today lol who knows, he’s a horse. But, he’s a lot less sensitive to his off side and is finding a lot more confidence with me on his back.
All it took was 6 sessions… and 10 years experience! Insane to think I got into riding green c**ts 10 years ago when I bought my first two green/unstarted horses. One was actually not even halter broke & shortly after that I started working friends horses as well as got a job keeping old ranch horses in line. After that, worked for a cutting trainer & realized… I could do this totally on my own for the public?! In Nov 2021 I opened up to the public and have been starting ~3-8 c**ts a month since. What a ride!! C**t starting has been my passion and is hands down, the thing I’m REALLY good at. After 10 years I’d hoped I’d figured out something at least. However, I am still learning and always will be. It is amazing to see what 10 years in a profession is like, you’re never done learning!! **tstarter
