In light of recent EHV-1 outbreak at the WPRA in Texas, we are taking precautions and will not be allowing any new horses into our facility for the next 30 days. This includes new training horses. Our next spot open for training clients is the beginning of January.

According to our veterinarians, as of this morning there are no confirmed cases in the area, and we hope it stays that way, but we can’t count on that.

Prayers to everyone losing their equine partners and to those in the fight ❤️💪🏻

⚠️ IMPORTANT EHV NOTICE FOR OUR CLIENTS AND ALL HORSE OWNERS⚠️

There is an active Equine Herpesvirus (EHV) outbreak in Texas, traced to a recent event in Waco. This strain is believed to be highly aggressive and has been fatal, and we are taking it extremely seriously to protect your horses and our community.

⛑️ HERE IS HOW WE CAN HELP

To help keep everyone safe, we are implementing the following:

🐴 1. Temperature Monitoring at Home
• Please take your horse’s temperature twice daily (morning and evening), especially if:
• Your horse was at Waco, or
• Has been to any show or large event in the last 14 days.
• A re**al temperature ≥101.5°F is a concern. Call us if you see fever, nasal discharge, coughing, or any stumbling/neurologic signs.

🚚 2. “Stay on the Trailer” Policy for Suspect Cases
If you are worried about EHV exposure or your horse has a fever:
• Do NOT unload your horse when you arrive at the clinic.
• Park in our isolation lot and call the front desk from your vehicle upon arrival.
• We will send a team out to your trailer to:
• Check your horse’s temperature
• Perform an exam
• Collect nasal swabs or run stall-side EHV tests as needed

This is to minimize any risk of spreading the virus on our property.

📍 3. Waco Exposure Screening
When you call to schedule, our staff will ask:
• “Was your horse at Waco?”
• “Has your horse been to any large show in the last 14 days?”
• “What is your horse’s current temperature?”

Please be patient with these questions, they are in place to protect your horses and everyone else’s.

💊 4. Testing & Antiviral Support
We are working to ensure we have:
• Adequate stall-side testing for EHV
• Adequate antiviral medications for high-risk or confirmed cases

If warranted, we will discuss testing and treatment options with you on a case-by-case basis.

🧼 5. Biosecurity & Quarantine Measures
We are preparing an alternate isolation facility with designated staff, should it become necessary to quarantine EHV-positive horses in a separate barn under strict lockdown. This will help us continue to care for all patients safely.

If you suspect EHV exposure, please call us before hauling in, and remember:
✅ Take temperatures twice daily
✅ Do NOT unload if you’re concerned, we will come to your trailer

Thank you for working with us to protect your horses and the wider equine community.

👉🏻 How Horses Get EHV-1 👇🏼

Horses pick up EHV-1 when they’re exposed to the virus from another infected horse or from a contaminated environment. The virus spreads in a few main ways:

1. Nose-to-nose contact

This is the most common route.
An infected horse sheds the virus in nasal secretions, and another horse can inhale or come into contact with those droplets.

2. Aerosolized particles

When an infected horse coughs or sneezes, tiny droplets carrying the virus can travel through the air and be inhaled by nearby horses.

3. Shared equipment

Anything that touches an infected horse’s nose or mouth can carry the virus:
• Water buckets
• Feed tubs
• Halters/lead ropes
• Grooming tools
• Tack
• Thermometers
This is called fomite transmission.

4. People spreading it

Humans can carry the virus on:
• Hands
• Clothing
• Jackets
• Boots
• Equipment
and transfer it to another horse without realizing it.

5. From infected mares to foals

Pregnant mares infected with certain forms of EHV-1 can pass the virus to their unborn foal, leading to abortion or weak newborns.

👀 The tricky part

Horses can carry latent EHV-1, meaning the virus goes “silent” in their body. Stress (hauling, showing, illness, weather changes) can reactivate it, and the horse may start shedding virus again—even if they don’t look sick.

Parents! Listen up!

*this is a joke*

Parents!

Do I have an opportunity for you! If you are a parent of an elementary school aged kid and you keep getting harassed by your child about the horse camp fliers being sent home, and you’re thinking, “How can I make these children stop talking about horse camp?”

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!

Buy your child a horse! It’s almost Christmas! The horse market is flooded with good horses and people ready to make a deal! Think about how cute that little palomino pony would look under the tree/eating the tree/pooping near the tree ☺️

Don’t have anywhere to keep it? YES YOU DO!

Right here! We have boarding available! We do all the work! Feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, turning them in and out, building upkeep!

You’re probably now asking, “Lady how is this going to get them to stop talking about horses”
You got me, it won’t and actually it will get worse 🤪 But what it WILL do is give your kids the opportunity to learn independence, confidence, bravery, and responsibility, and will help shape them into well rounded adults.

You’re now like “We know nothing about horses. What if we get one and it doesnt turn out how it was described to us and needs work, and how the heck do I teach my kid to ride?” Well, guess who is a professional horse trainer and lesson instructor? 👀 🙋🏼‍♀️

“Well this is a fool proof plan where absolutely nothing can go wrong!” You’re right, I agree!

… Anyway we have horse boarding available…

Full care and pasture board! Pm me for pricing and barn tours ☺️

eta you do not have to have a child to board with us! You do have to have a horse though.

eta #2 things can go very wrong with horses. This is not a fool proof plan. When you buy a horse say good bye to your bank account 🙃

*need to say this since some people can’t tell for some reason, this is very much a joke and unserious. Horses are big commitments. While there are many benefits to owning horses including the reasons mentioned above, they do require proper care and attention like any animal. However, a goal of ours is to encourage growing a dying sport in our area and we want to help support that in any way we can and not judge people for what they don’t know. The equestrian community should be about building each other up, not tearing them down.

Warmed up just enough this past weekend for us to enjoy the last of our Haunted Hooves Mini Horse Camp! We had a “galaxy horse,” a football player with #67 on his jersey, and a “67 Frankenstein Horse” (what is it with these children and 67!?!). Had a great time with you all, hope you enjoyed it!!

And that wraps up our final camp of the year!! (Unless my mother gets her way and we throw a “North Pole Stables” Christmas camp 🙄😅). Thanks to ALLL our volunteers and campers that made this happen!! What a dream we have that we are so fortunate to share with your kiddos! Have a great rest of the year, can’t wait to see you all next year!

Update: SOLD

REDUCED PRICE— had a vet bill come up (not hers!)

✨6yo grade gray mare ✨

Previous owner fell on hard times and asked me to take her on, so here we are! Have not personally done much but some groundwork with her, and she seems smart and willing and quiet on the ground! With previous owner, she’s had around 40 rides, lots of groundwork done. Loads, leads, ties, picks up all 4 feet. UTD shots, coggins, teeth done in spring, feet due around beginning of November. Offering now as a PROJECT before she begins training with us and her price goes up. Sound. Would make someone a cool ranch or cow horse, or maybe even a barrel or playday pony! Will have a better idea of her strengths when I start more work with her. On grass pasture 24/7!

We will not allow test rides at this time but come meet her! She is sweet and pretty with TONS of factoring, and built like a brick house! This is the cheapest she will be so scoop her up now before I turn her into something stunning & fancy!

*experienced riders only as she is green*
