🚑 Tool Time Thursday - Ballistic Gear for EMS: Safety First 🚑
The safety of our EMS personnel is a top priority ✅. Our teams are equipped with ballistic gear for protection during high-risk situations—whether it’s a training exercise or a real-life emergency 🚨.

👮‍♂️ While our law enforcement partners use this gear daily, we’re thankful we don’t often need it. But if the scene warrants it, we’re ready—glad to have the tools and our law enforcement partners to help protect our team and serve the community ❤️.

🧰 The small kit includes hemorrhage control tools 🩸—because every second counts when lives are on the line ⏱️.

Prepared. Protected. Ready to serve. 🚑💼🛡️

🚨 Today is the Day! 🚨
Perquimans-Gates 911 Communications is excited to officially launch Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) — a national protocol software that helps our 911 telecommunicators gather more detailed and accurate information during fire-related emergencies. 🔥

With this tool, our team can provide better, more precise details to responders, while also giving improved instructions to the caller—helping everyone stay safer in a crisis.

👉 Please remember:
Our 911 team works together. While one telecommunicator is gathering important details, another is already dispatching fire resources. There is no delay in response.

📝 Here are the 4 key questions every 911 caller will be asked:
1️⃣ What’s the address of the emergency?
2️⃣ What’s the phone number you’re calling from?
3️⃣ What’s your name?
4️⃣ Tell me exactly what happened.

This information is critical, especially if the call gets disconnected. It allows us to follow up and still send help to your location.

We appreciate your patience as we implement this important upgrade! ❤️

🌪️ Hurricane Preparedness Week is a great time to remind ourselves to check in on family, friends, and neighbors — especially those who may need extra help preparing for a storm. 💬🧓👨‍🦼

Some individuals may need assistance gathering supplies, arranging transportation, or making emergency plans. Let’s look out for one another so that everyone is prepared.

🩺 If you have loved ones who are bedbound, oxygen-dependent, or have other medical needs, ask them if they’ve enrolled in the Special Needs Registry. This voluntary program helps individuals think through and plan ahead for:

Evacuation or shelter-in-place decisions

Power outages and medical equipment needs

Emergency contact info and care coordination
