Did you know that kittens lose teeth like we do? They are so tiny that the kitten usually swallows them and normally, you won’t find them. But once in awhile… (possibly if you brush your kitten’s teeth) you could notice one is loose and you might find it when it comes out!

Pictured is a premolar from one of my resident boys. By 5 months, kittens will have lost all their baby teeth, including their canines. All 30 of their adult teeth should be grown in by 7 months old. To find out what you can do to help teething kittens, check out this article from Chewy: https://www.chewy.com/education/cat/health-and-wellness/what-to-expect-with-kitten-teething?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=16030263983&utm_content=132259537669&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=16030263983&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V27BphReO28j4Qw1QhCa0IVk&gclid=CjwKCAjwgb_CBhBMEiwA0p3oOHQmTk0Oq9sdPqOhfpM7AaCCHGdzS1kWFtsThv8lagrf4hrrbImGBxoCpCsQAvD_BwE

I got an update from the wonderful family that adopted Erin. They love her beyond words and spoil her (as it should be!). It’s the best thing ever to see a foster kitty that I put so much time and energy into thrive in her own home where she is a cuddly and loving companion to the whole family. It makes my day to see pics and hear stories about them!! 😻 literally makes it all worth it.

New kittens in the house!

The remaining kitten from the last litter, Rainier, is doing great! I handed him off to the foster who had his two remaining siblings so he could learn how to “cat”. I didn’t have to wait long for more to be sent my way!

Meet Boeing (we call him Bo). He’s one of 4 male kittens who came in very malnourished and small for their age. Two of his siblings had upper respiratory infections with swollen, inflamed eyes, severe diarrhea, and lots of the tiniest ticks on the rims of their eyes (fhis was so bizarre). Fortunately, Bo didn’t have eye problems but he did have other signs of the URI.

With the help of quite a few meds, worming, eye drops and lots and lots of TikiBaby Thrive, they are bouncing back and quickly gaining weight!

I’m breathing easier since I’m seeing the scale go up for the two sicker kittens, Jet and Chopper (if I haven’t mentioned it, Cocoa Kitties is doing travel/geography themed names this year). Their last brother, Zeppelin, is doing awesome from the get go. It’s nice to see them thriving after the last litter’s challenges.

Bo is the only long haired sibling and he always looks disheveled no matter now many baths, blow outs and brushing I do for him 😆 I had to take advantage of this and make him a Mohawk to show of his fuzzy self.

Isn’t he the cutest little punk rocker you’ve ever seen?! 😻

The pictures of his siblings are about a week old so their eyes look better more recently.

I am beside myself. I lost another out of this litter. They were both loved and cuddled and kissed more than any cat should have to tolerate.

I’m holding my breath about the third brother, Rainier, who has been the healthiest of the bunch and has been gaining weight on point so far. Though 2/3 of my heart has broken off, what I have left needs to be given in full to this boy who is still in front of me. Thank you for your comments and kindness.

I lost him. This picture was taken two days ago. He was happy and playing.

Today, before work, he ate on his own. And at lunchtime, he was doing ok. But when I got home from work, he couldn’t move. He was cold and had lost control of his bowels. He was crying out weakly. I rubbed his gums with karo syrup, gave him subqutanious fluids and vitamin B. I put him on a heating pad and wrapped him up to get him warm. But it was too little too late.

We had a rough few weeks together. He was struggling but I really thought we had turned a corner. I’m shocked, devastated and drained. I always knew there was a possibility he wouldn’t make it because he came in such a bad state to begin with. But I thought were over the hard part.

I was wrong.

I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you, little man. I love you and I won’t forget you.

My former foster kitty, Sevvy is literally living his BEST life with his new mom (whose name is also Jen 🫶🏻). He is her baby, as you can see and they were meant to be together! 💞

Seeing how they grow up and have amazing families and are loving life makes all the work worth it. And a special thanks to Dr. Diane at The Vetting Zoo for the helping Sevvy and his sister make it after a tragic dog attack that killed their mom and siblings. Sevvy and his sister were found with maggots all over them and didn’t have a good prognosis at all. But the guidance and care of The Vetting Zoo gave them a chance! 😻

The storm hit our power while I was rinsing the last kitten and finishing his bath. Of course he is the weakest of the litter so getting him dry quickly can honestly be life and death… but I have no power for the blow dryer. He’s ok though because I had just thrown a load of microfiber towels in the dryer and it just finished. We have a pile of warm towels to get him dry.

But since it’s kitten season, it made me think of all the tiny kittens outside this exact moment, sick, weak, and now probably soaking wet. Many of them will probably die. Why? Because people think spay and neutering their pets is not necessary. Some people think that disposing of their pets by dropping them off in the countryside, or opening their front door and letting them go is an acceptable way to get rid of their responsibility to that pet. It ends in death SO many times.

This baby right here will not have to go through that type of suffering. ❤️‍🩹 I got you, little babe. 😘

Update: Ryan was ADOPTED!!! His new mom came all the way from New Jersey to get him. He has an incredible FOREVER home that understands his special needs and is more than willing to give him the care he needs and deserves. 🥰 I’m so happy this boy is in wonderful hands now!

share my Ry-Guy! The gentle giant!

This poor sweetheart was returned to me by his adopter after a year because he had bladder crystals. A quick trip to the vet and some special food and now he’s golden and more of a lover boy than ever before! Just think of how much pain he’s endured till now!
Ryan loves to be held and hugged, and he lives for those booty-scratches. He’ll even flop over for belly rubs and gives “thank you” kisses on your hands, arms, legs and face! He’s great with friendly kitties too! He’s 13 pounds of pure love 😻😻😻

This is the equivalent of mom feeding the kids snacks for supper because she can’t get to the store for a proper meal 😆

I have a kidney infection and ran out of soft food for the WHOLE HOUSE. I was supposed to go get some yesterday but wasn’t feeling up to it. I put a small chewy order in but it won’t be here till Tuesday. I think I’ll be able to make it out of the house tomorrow. Let’s hope so for the kitties sakes!!

For tonight anyway, I think the boys thought it was a fun meal 😂

Danny has been in the store for a long time now. He’s really sweet and kind!

UPDATE: Danny is been adopted! 😻

Adoptable Danny is ready for some peace, quiet and relaxation. A more accurate caption would be “Is it my Gotcha Day yet?”

Danny arrived at Pet Supplies Plus - Lemoyne, PA just before Christmas, and he still doesn’t have an adopter. This 8-month-old boy is a little shy with new people (and there are a lot of new people at the store), but when trusted friends (HART volunteers) come to take care of him each day, it is cuddle time, and Danny’s sweet personality shines! Danny loves rolling, flipping and contorting himself into the best positions for pets. He enjoys lap time and shows his appreciation with rumbling purrs.

As you can see, Danny’s a handsome tabby. What you can’t see in this photo is his short (but adorable) tail. He lost a big chunk of his tail in an injury months ago (He’s recovered!). His fluffy but compact tail only adds to his charm.

Today is the day to apply to adopt this loving, sweet boy. There’s a link to the application and more (happier!) photos of Danny in the comments.
