A year ago today Bearclaw was born! He is our only texel buck related to our OG texel line. For those that don’t know, I had to take a breeding hiatus to take care of my spouse after a major surgery. I didn’t have the time to take care of all the mice, the rest of my pets, and my spouse. I kept a few back as pets, including 1 texel buck from my OG line. When I began breeding again 5 months later, the buck was then around 9 months old, and sired Bearclaw’s litter. Now I have the friendliest little guy, who begs to be held and interact with people. While he doesn’t have the most perfect coat for a texel, his temperament is so excellent that I almost don’t care. He is a great mouse to introduce to people who are more scared or don’t have experience handling them!

He has been paired to a blue texel doe and will be paired to a black pied angora for his final sired litters. I’m hoping to keep a buck or two back to replace him as he will be retiring as a spoiled pet!! Enjoy some baby photos of him 🥰

After a muuuuch needed long break from posting here, I’ll share some baby photos! This is (most) of the litters we have in the nest at the moment!

I’ve taken such a long break because honestly, I’ve been trying to size down my mousery. Which doesn’t show in how many babies I have currently haha! I am trying to decide on what lines to keep and what to stop working with. I have been working on combining some lines, but I still need to downsize. Until then, these are the lines I’m working with.

Current lines:
- texel
- rex
- angora
- merle
- abyssinian
- splash/tricolor
- siamese/burmese

That’s really it for now, hopefully I’m able to narrow down what to keep working with in the next month or so and then I can update what I will have when I open back up!

I love this feed! All of my pets and breeding stock do amazing on it. I’ve been reluctant recommending it to new adopters in the past, since it only came in 50lb bags. But now that there’s a smaller bag option, I feel comfortable recommending it to pet homes!

This is a great alternative to Mazuri lab block, although that one will still be more easy to get in a pinch! It’s still another great food, my mice just don’t do the best on it ☺️

NSM will be closing to the public for the foreseeable future, I’d like to reopen after life settles down a bit but I don’t have a specific time frame at the moment. At this time, all applications have been deleted. Whenever we open back up I will post about accepting new applicants.

I know some people have been waiting on getting some mice from me, with that I’d like to refer you to Brookie Cookie Creatures. Brooke is an amazing, local breeder. She focuses on temperament and health above all else. She is actually the first breeder I ever got mice from when I started owning them just as pets! She did let me know she is taking a breeding break around late July-September. I would reach out about availability and possibly joining her waitlist!

I’m sorry if this inconvinces anyone, but I do need to put my mental health first. I will continue breeding to keep my lines going and improving. I will post updates here on how it’s going, but at this time and until I announce a reopen, no mice I post will be for the public. Anyways, enjoy these cute litter photos I got of some babies here at NSM!

These litter photos are from Sunday but I’ve had lots come up so I’m just now getting around to post them. I have 3 more litters that I need to take photos of, so I’ll post those most likely tomorrow!

That said, I’ve had lots of little girls born the last month, so those on the waitlist should hear from me in 1-2 months!

Wanted to give a small update before I show some litters that have been born this week!

•This is the last of the pregnant girls of this breeding wave in my program. I like to breed in waves so I have multiple girls in milk incase there is a need for a foster mom among my litters (which actually came in handy this time unfortunately)

•The most recent litters I posted about are also doing so amazing!! They even produced some chocolate tans which I am so stocked about as I’ve wanted chocolate in my lines since I first started breeding. To have it just randomly pop up in my line was such a sweet surprise!

•All mice I got while in Oregon are all settling in nicely and should be done with quarantine June 10th. I do have a few siamese girls paired within that group already so I’m looking forward to see what they produce!
