Many times our training is about peace of mind for both dog and owner. Walking through situations that will arise in their day to day life, doing our best to ensure everyone is setup for success. The results are a joy to see. Charlie at Casler Flower Farm is a great example and I love to see what he has become!

Socializing our dogs to new places like the grooming salon, a veterinarian, or even your favorite store can be tricky. We want them to have a good experience above all. Obedience is a great outlet for them to focus on instead of all of the exterior distractions they may encounter. Leading them and guiding them through these new experiences is important. We dont like to just “see what happens”, instead we have specific ways to set our dogs up for success wherever they may go!

Here’s a , when working with our dogs we need to make sure we use their natural instincts, prey drive, hunt, play etc. If we war against what our dogs have naturally it will make for a miserable time for both dog and handler. Use what they were born with and turn the training experience into the most fun we have with our dogs.

Purpose through obedience

Giving a dog a life that is set apart from the “norm” is a way of giving them purpose through obedience. We can use it with nervous/anxious dogs to focus them on the task at hand instead of a distraction (thunderstorm etc). With a high energy dog to channel them to “work”. Or simply for us to be more interesting than the grass underneath us and build engagement with our dogs. When done correctly, obedience is the key to finding this purpose and taking dogs to the next level! Do you want to get to that level?

Good dog training shouldn’t be reactive only, aka I want to train my dog because it shows an undesirable behavior so we need to fix it. Fixing issues is super important and a daily process but specifically I am talking about being proactive. Instilling correct behaviors in our dogs first, shaping them into their best version, setting them up for success not failure. Showing them a clear consistent picture while also showing them when they verge off of that path. Obedience paints this clear picture to our dogs. Dont know how to get the message through to your dog?

Chloe after her second lesson doing amazing! When dogs are shown clear communication we build trust with their owner 1000%! Chloe is a great example of how training needs to be taylored to the dog and owner, it isnt one size fits all. They are now walking with a new found confidence!

Small breeds, over 5 years old, dog aggression, where do we start?!? First adding structure and focus we change their perspective to a much more positive outlook. Next build their confidence through the roof, then we expose, socialize, and show them a new normal. Training opens doors that many owners never thought possible! Check back in to see them in group class!
