Nat Stewart's addiction to team roping began just like the rest of us, through the love of horses and the thrill of winning. His journey to where he is today goes back to Junior World Team Roping, High School Rodeo, and College Rodeo, and it doesn't stop there. After college Nat traveled to France where he was a cowboy in Euro Disney's, Buffalo Bills Wild West

show. Nat has also been an active member of the USTRC, PRCA and IPRA. These are just some of the things that have brought Nat to where his heart and soul are today, horses. His ability to make a horse strive and bring out his highest potential is just a few of his talents. He also sets his goals on matching the right roper with the right horse. Seeing that this kind of combination comes together has proven to make a winning team. At Stewart Performance Horses "Better horses make better ropers." Over the last decade the sport of team roping has continued to expand its horizons... It is no longer just about the tradition of ranchers in the west, but a rapidly growing sport across the entire country. For this reason, the good old horse is no longer competitive. To stay in the game you have to be ahead of it. I am sure you heard the saying "You're only as good as the horse you ride." Finding the right combination of horse and rider is the key to success. For this reason scouting for the perfect horse should be a roper's top priority. We want to find or make that horse for you. From training your prospect to selling you a horse, we all have the same goal at any level "staying ahead of the game". From the one you think has the ability to be the perfect horse to the one that is, except for some needed tuning, training is available year round. Indoor and outdoor arenas make this possible. Stalls are provided at the client's request. Certified Farrier and Veterinarian are also available when needed. We want this to be a positive experience for you and your horse. So glad you stopped in! 💜

This picture was taken in 2018 on our move from Louisiana to Wisconsin. Miranda was five months pregnant in this photo, and we were driving toward a future we could not yet see.

We were not planning to stop at a roping that day. We were headed to a new life.

Everything we owned was loaded up. Two horses. Miranda’s good head horse and my good heel horse. A dog. A cat. A three year old. Our clothes and gear stuffed into every corner of the living quarters. A truck and a trailer rolling north with no real idea what waited for us when we got there.

Somehow along the way we realized we were somewhat close to a USTRC roping at YankeeTown Arena in Henryville, Indiana. It was a small detour, but we looked at each other and said why not. We already had the horses with us. We already had our ropes. So we made a detour and went to a roping in the middle of a move across the country.

And somehow we won.

We won a roping together. We won a pair of buckles. We also won about thirty five hundred dollars, which at that moment meant more to us than we can explain. It was fuel. It was groceries. It was a little peace of mind as we kept driving toward Wisconsin.

Those Indiana buckles still mean a lot to us. Not because of where they came from, but because of when they came.

Two people in the middle of a big leap. A family in a trailer. A dream on the road. And a stop at YankeeTown Arena that reminded us we were on the right path.
