Training tip Tuesday: Today we are going to discuss why you shouldn't yell at or punish a reactive dog. Reactivity is a stress response. If , as an owner you are afraid of snakes and I bring a snake to our training session with me, and you freak out ,then I yell at you for freaking out . Does it make you less afraid of that snake? Does it reduce your stress over seeing that snake? Or does my yelling at you add stress ? After I yell at you for freaking out you're not only afraid of the snake you're afraid of being yelled at. Same for your dog.

This is Gem, she is my senior girl , she is 13 years old, Gemmy is a people lover...she loves to get pets and meet new people, while her brothers and sister love to sled , it was not always a priority on her list. Gem had been a little lonely while they went off to work and she stayed behind. So she's come out and really enjoyed herself working the special runs that are dedicated to our senior dogs , they get hooked up and go for a shorter run either at the beginning or the end of the day, so they can still do what they love, but do so at their own pace. We treasure these runs above all.
