🥵 Tennessee is going to be HOT this week! ☀️
Heat stroke can happen quickly and is a life-threatening emergency. Unlike people, pets do not sweat like we do, so they can’t cool themselves as efficiently and can overheat much faster.
⚠️ Watch for these signs of heat stroke:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Excessively drooling
🐾 Bright red or pale gums
🐾 Weakness or stumbling
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Collapse
🐾 Seizures
💧 Help keep your pets safe:
• Provide plenty of fresh, cool water.
• Keep them in the shade or indoors during the hottest part of the day.
• Walk dogs early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
• Avoid hot pavement—it can burn paw pads.
• Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
🚨 If you think your pet is suffering from heat stroke, don’t wait ….get them to your veterinarian immediately. Every minute counts.
Stay safe and help keep your four-legged family members cool this week! ❤️🐾
