Friends of City of Henderson Animal Control Serving Henderson, Tn. This is a "kill" shelter that has not euthanized since 2012. This shelter is ran by one person along with a few volunteers.

There are only 5 kennels (runs) here. This shelter only accommodates dogs at this time. Also, we only deal inside the city limits.

Thank you to everyone who sent money and helped us in different ways get Clyde and Buddys kennel!

And a huge thank you to Tyler Stewart at Lowe’s South Jackson for working with us and helping us get a kennel that was affordable and worked for what we needed! We got it set up and a temporary cover to get the boys in it and safe🥰

Due to NO fault of her own, Mocha is coming back to us. We really don’t want to have to put her in a kennel but would rather have someone PATIENT and understanding ready to take her on. This dog is amazing if given the opportunity- unfortunately though people don’t realize it takes months for a dog to adjust to their new “normal” after being passed around.

We would LOVE nothing more than to clear the shelter in the month of July. FIVE DOGS, that’s it! We can do it!

If everyone that sees this post, shares it, maybe just maybe we could make this happen! Our shelter is small, but with 5 dogs, that is full for us- one dog for every kennel…

We help cover vetting and spays and neuters to help every dog that leaves have a great start to their new journeys! Every single dog is very special to all of us who care for them, and we want each and every one to have a chance to be loved like they deserve!

Abigail is taking her freedom ride with her new owners and NO LONGER a shelter pup! 🐾❤️

After weeks of being on her own, running through town and allowing no one near her, she improved tremendously once at the shelter. Some kind citizens fed her during that time and everyone was relieved once she was trapped. Now, Abigail no longer has to worry about life on the streets but instead snuggling and being spoiled by her new forever family. 🫶🏻

We would love it if every pet got to live in the house with their people and enjoy fun quality time outside, but that's not the case. Some live outside full time, and others stay outside while their humans are at work. In either of these situations, owners in Jackson are legally required to meet certain standards of housing. Dogs must be over 6 months old to live outdoors, and they have to have a wind and waterproof dog house with 4 solid walls, roof, floor, and adequately sized door. They also have to have a separate source of shade, constant, clean water, and a sanitary environment. Make sure you're meeting the requirements so your pup can be safe and comfy. And, as always, if you have questions- call us! We're happy to help educate!

We have a HAPPY MOCHA AND MOM this morning because she’s been seeing Mochas posts shared on community pages and decided that she would give Mocha a chance!!
This helps us tremendously since the clock was ticking that Mocha would wind up in a shelter kennel.

‼️We DESPERATELY need a foster or potentially adopter for Mocha still, anything someone can offer is better than nothing. We need her moved by Saturday… she’s a very good girl, crate trained, potty trained, knows commands, etc. just timid 🥰 she Is spayed, vetted etc. will need time to adjust to a new atmosphere, other animals and people, but should do fine withh slow introductions!🐾❤️

Please consider fostering Mocha! Shelter is overfull‼️

We have a situation we DESPERATELY need help with. We've posted Mocha several times, explaining that we're looking for a permanent home for her or a new foster. There have been situations where at first we thought she was headed to a life in California and then going to college in North Carolina. Both of those have fallen through and we HAVE to get her relocated ASAP. Current foster will VERY SOON no longer be available. She attaches easily to a person but is going to need someone who can patiently help her adjust and who can slowly work at resocializing with other dogs and broaden her world. She's extremely smart, knows tons of commands, loves working an obstacle course, is crate trained. She's been vetted, spayed and is HW positive, but is on slow kill method...has completed doxycycline and we are providing monthly treatment. It would be awesome if someone with training skills were available to help her realize she can love multiple people and get her involved with other dogs again. She deserves a chance, one I feel I've failed in assuring her. We're running out of options and time. We're afraid she would not handle the shelter well at all and unless we can find her someone willing to help, we are facing an extremely difficult decision. Not to mention we are COMPLETELY FULL at the shelter!!!
