73 days ago I picked up tag number 5531 and today he is no longer a number! With me being in school and college and working part time I have not been as consistent as most in this process but it really has taught me so much! So much about myself so much about being patient and understanding things is many different perspectives. This horse is just a baby but he is so intelligent and it really inspires me! He keeps me going and gives me motivation to help him achieve his God given potentials! He has continued to show up for me when I didn’t think I was good enough to be doing this. I learned not to take things for granted and not expect everything to be easy! Because if you have been keeping up… it hasn’t been easy! But this is just another beginning to even greater achievements!

I know ive waited so long to announce his name but it really meant a lot to me to make it public once i got the tag off and he wasn’t a tag number anymore! You may have seen the post about me offering hints for anyone who wanted to try and guess his name and if you did reach out for a hint, I would have told you that it was one word, six letters but not to forget the capital! This may make a lot more sense now to those who guessed, but this name was not hard to choose. It was one of the first names I thought of going into this process, and it happened to fit him perfectly. It correlates with my name and Memphis’s name and my previous Colorado’s name! His name means “green Valley” and i hope he know he will always run in green pastures with me!

I’ve kept you waiting long enough!! Everyone people welcome officially for the first time……

This sweet pony made tremendous progress yesterday. It’s funny because the weather has been really terrible lately and truthfully I haven’t been very consistent because of weather and work. Yesterday when I went over I was so tired I didn’t feel like getting any ropes or whips out I just went in there and wanted to try something new. He was pretty confused and nervous in the beginning but quickly let me rub all over his shoulder and towards his back and neck. He didn’t seem to care at all! This was the first time I have ever just walked into the pen and went up to pet him and it is also the first time he’s ever been pet there by a human!

What a good pony this is! He wore a halter today! He isn’t confident enough for me to tie it right next to his face, but we are definitely close! We also brought firecracker in there with him to gain some confidence and he wanted to be his best friend! I’m really falling in love with this sweet face!

Here is a quite long and sometimes boring video but if even one person enjoys it that’s all that matters! I decided to make a video of me talking through what I am doing instead of typing it and sometimes I get stuck in the moment and forget to talk but that’s what learning is for I guess! Anywho today was a very big day for pony and I! He finally gave in to his fear of being touched and let me run on his face for a few seconds! Oh how over the moon I was! If you don’t make it through the whole video, at least skip to the end to see him let me run on him and how amazing he progressed! I’m so so proud of him!

Mustangs are so special. Every one of them are so different and unique in their own way! I love getting to know them and it really puts into perspective of how versatile and talented they all are!

Mustang Heritage Foundation thank you for all that you do, without you guys I wouldn’t have the beautiful boy who I get the privilege of getting to know and work with!

Everyday I wake up excited to work with him because everyday I get to know him better and see what each day has in store!

Really proud of pony today, sorry updates haven’t been frequent the weather has been absolutely awful and truthfully I haven’t been very consistent this last week or two with him because of how cold it has been and there were a few days that the roads were not safe to drive to him! But here we are and he is incredibly brave and smart and picks up right where we left off even with a few days break

The right side has been very difficult for him to put me on when he’s standing still and today he took a big step and let me mess around a bit on that scary side! I’m so proud of my baby!

I know I’ve been taking it very slow and behind a lot of the other trainers but I know that I have a long time and it will all pay off at the end❤️

But remember that it's not how fast you learn the lesson. It's how deep your relationship grows with every step. Don't compare yourself or your mustang with anyone else. Between work, school, snow, ice, and bizarre Alabama weather pony and I have been taking it even slower. Sorry updates haven’t been great lately! But don’t worry! Once this snow clears up we will be right back on the grind!

Was kinda lazy today and dint want to type everything in the video and time it all and everything so hear is a very lightly edited video of our time today! Pony did very good with desensitizing! He is still weary of my being right up in his space and petting him but I just played some music and spent some time rubbing all over him with the whip. Please note what I’m doing does not hurt him! The string is lightly laying over him I am not hitting him! I am just getting him use to something touching him all over! I also added a halter to the end of the whip to get him use to that! I’m taking it very slow but it will pay off in the end!
