Every summer we take a few different approaches to preventative tick, fly and flea maintenance-but since I was a kid we have put Patriot cattle tags on all of our dogs. You can see those orange tags on their collars. It’s one of the only companies left that contain diazinon. They work really well against all bugs. Notice our dogs have no horse flies or anything on them in this video even though it’s obviously very hot and bugs everywhere at this location. In contrast with the flooded river bottoms, here’s a scene from a higher ground pine plantation. Water is scarce is some of these places. We had just put one down right after daylight and I am trying to get Jojo to take advantage of that little hole of water but he wasn’t ready for a drink yet because he had just drank at camp.
