. Groomers and bathers perform a physical inspection that can promote early treatment of skin growths, ear infections, a**l gland problems, and external parasites. If our groomer does find a problem with your pet, our staff will notify you and a veterinarian can assess the situation quickly. Please feel free to discuss hair trimming with us ahead of time. The better the condition of your pet's coat before the grooming, the more choices you have in the style of the cut. If there is a lot of matted hair, the best choice may be to clip the hair down and work gradually as the coat comes back in. Similarly, toenails that are very long may need to be shortened gradually, because the quicks grow longer with the nails and also recede as they are shortened. We can show you how to care for your pet's coat so that it stays healthy between groomings. Cats often miss out on the benefits of grooming because, people think they hate water. Once they are wet and lathered, they often enjoy the spa treatment, and it certainly reduces the amount of hair they swallow from grooming themselves. Many owners of long haired cats prefer the lion cut for the summer. The fur on the head, legs, and tail is left long, while the body is clipped short to keep them cooler. Pure bred dogs can be groomed to resemble the show clips for the breed, but often owners prefer a more simple style that is easier to maintain.
