Horse Riding Friends - We have an incredible opportunity, and we need your help.

The St. Stephens Historical Park has been selected for a feature in a magazine promoting Alabama tourism. The primary focus of this article will be the availability of horse riding trails in the park. The park team is thrilled by this opportunity, and we want to maximize the potential.

As you are aware, our park operates on a tight budget, and we rely on the help of friends and supporters. There are two primary needs related to this magazine feature, and we are asking for your help.

#1 - WE NEED HORSE RIDERS IN THE PARK OF SATURDAY, AUGUST 1ST. A publicist and a professional photographer will be at the park to photograph horse riding activities.
*** If you come to the day ride for the photo shoot and you are willing for your images to be published, there will be no charge for your riding that day.
*** If you come to stay overnight and you are willing for your images to be published, there will be no charge for your horse stalls for Friday or Saturday night.
Please mention that you are coming to participate in the photo shoot when you make your reservation or when you check-in.

#2 - WE NEED HELP SPRUCING UP THE TRAILS AND STALLS ASAP!!!! The park budget only allows for one part-time maintenance worker. Unfortunately, by the time he handles his other responsibilities, it leaves little time for focusing on trails and stalls. We are looking for volunteers to help get the park in shape for the photo shoot.
*** If you can volunteer to help with the stalls or trails, please keep up with your volunteer hours.

For 4 volunteer hours, you will receive 4 days of trail riding to be used by the end of 2020.

For 8 volunteer hours, you will receive free trail riding for a month, to be used by the end of 2020 OR One free night with an RV site and two stalls to be used by the end of 2020.

*** If you volunteer, you can report your hours via Facebook message or by calling and leaving a message at the park office at 251-247-2622. Please tell us your name, when you worked, how many hours you worked, and what you did.

Social distancing is in effect throughout the state at this time. Please be mindful of the current regulations when visiting the park.

Through March 15, 2020, AHA members can register their horses over 2-years old for a reduced amnesty registration fee. (All registration requirements must be met.)
$250 for Arabian
$150 for Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian
