It’s officially spring time which in the grooming industry means “Matted Shave Down Season”. During this time we just want to remind our clients of our quoted times and what that means.

For small dogs in good condition we quote 3-4hrs and for large dogs 4-5hrs.

If your dog comes in matted this adds time to these quoted times as we have to pre-shave the mats and go extremely slow as mats pull on the skin and create a greater risk on your dog being cut.

If your dog is not accustomed to grooming or does not tolerate being groomed this also can add time to those quoted times. This is typically seen in dogs that come less than every 4-8 weeks or just once a year for a shave down. We work with live animals and sharp tools therefore when a dog is not being tolerant we have to slow down or sometimes ask fellow co workers to help try to calm the dog down to ensure the safety of the pet.

We understand pet parents do not like being away from their pets for a long time. We take the safety of our 4 legged clients extremely serious and sometimes slow and steady wins the race when working with live animals.
