Hello everyone. I wanted to give an update on my recovery. This will be long, so bear with me.
First, I would like to say how thankful I am for everyone who was so kind, caring, and generous to me and my family during this really difficult time. I was really blown away by the amount of clients that took time to visit me and chat or bring their dogs to see me to lift my spirits, people that brought food and flowers or sent gifts to help me through since I've been unable to work. I was not expecting that at all. I am so blessed and grateful to have such wonderful clients/friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This has been a long, painful, and depressing injury and recovery. I am finally on the mend to hopefully get back to work soon. But I still have a lot of pain and swelling, so I will not be able to take on the same workload as I used to before. Unfortunately, this means that I will not be able to accommodate everyone right away. I will probably only be able to handle 2 dogs per day to start as I am still in physical therapy 3 times per week, and I will have to elevate my foot with ice in between clients. I also have been diagnosed with a couple of other medical issues that were discovered after my injury, and I have more doctor appointments scheduled than normal going forward. In addition, I can not work as late as I used to because of my son's schedule.
I have a significant limp, and I can not lift much yet due to the strain on my ankle and the stress on my knee. So I will have to take dogs under 20 pounds to start. My doctor says my pain and swelling could take up to a year to resolve so I am going to just have to take it day by day to see how much I can handle and make sure I don't cause any further injury or set back my progress. This was a very serious, traumatic injury, so while I know everyone is anxious for me to resume grooming their dogs, it will just take a lot more time than expected to be able to accommodate everyone.
Thank you so much again for your patience and understanding. I will be reaching out to people soon to start scheduling a few appointments.
