This project was a lot of work! The sculpting and color blending came together nicely on the antlers. The antlers are pinned together with steel 1/8” & 1/4” square stock and attached to an “Outlaw Skulls” reproduction whitetail skull. I was very fortunate to have been able to use the real antler burrs that the buck had shed. I don’t know what this mount weighs but it is heavy! I hope you enjoy seeing part of the process pictures. 🇺🇸🦌🇺🇸🦌

I just wanted to share this really nice mount that I put together in 2022 for my wonderful daughter in-law Alex Cromwell that I did not intend to complete with, this mount was put together as a custom piece that I decided to enter in our anual Florida State Taxidermist Association Convention & Competition in February of 2025. I was fortunate enough to pull a third in masters as a customer piece and also get the Best Whitetail Shoulder Wall Mount Master Class award, this is very humbling for me and I encourage anyone who wants to get into taxidermy to join their state association. 🇺🇸🦌

Important Update from Rodney’s Taxidermy;

This season, I’m trying something a little different to help manage my workload and improve turnaround times. I’ve created a Will Call List with 10 openings for deer mounts, which I will begin accepting around February 28, 2026.
If you're interested in reserving a spot, let me know and I’ll add you to the list. I’ll reach out around February 28th to schedule your drop-off appointment. At that time, a 50% deposit will be required, and I’ll provide you with an estimated completion date.
As openings become available, I will contact the next person on the list in order.

A Note on Pricing and Quality;
After reevaluating the time and effort it takes to produce a high-quality, customized mount using only premium materials, I’ve made the decision to implement a price increase. My goal is to deliver nothing but the best work possible, and I will not cut corners to offer cheaper prices.
I understand this may not be for everyone—and that’s okay. If quality and craftsmanship are important to you, then I’m the right taxidermist for the job.
Thank you for your continued support,Rodney’s Taxidermy

This was a truly enjoyable project, and I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to USDA Wildlife Services for the opportunity and the freedom to bring it to life. I’m also especially thankful to Jeff Whitlock for taking time out of his busy day to share his mounting techniques and extensive knowledge with me working on this nice boar.
For anyone interested in learning taxidermy, I highly recommend joining your states Taxidermy Association. It’s a great way to connect with experienced individuals who are always willing to share their skills and insights. 🇺🇸

This impressive Texas buck is mounted on a Mears Whitetail Form, it’s always nice to have the freedom to put a project like this together. The pedestal is early 1900’s repurposed Barnwood and the fence post is heart cypress.

I wanted to let everyone know that as of today, I will not be accepting new deer mounts until my current backlog is cleared. If we have previously discussed your project and you are on the waiting list, please be assured that this notification does not apply to you. I am diligently working to complete your mount. With the exception of the most recent deer season, I have all necessary materials and the tanning process complete for each project. Once the backlog is cleared, I will accept a limited number of deer mounts each hunting season. Thank you for your patience and business as I work through this process. Respectfully,
