I run an exotic rescue out of Hawkins. I do not take in dogs or cats but can help network you to a list of local rescues and shelters to call but I take in most other animals. I do not do local wildlife, please call Texas Parks and wildlife for a close rehabber but If you have frogs, lizards, snakes, iguanas, bearded dragons, tarantulas, scorpions, chinchillas, hamsters, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, ferrets, rabbits, birds, fish, turtles, etc.- (you get the picture) and need to surrender it because you are moving or cannot continue caring for it please contact me. I do have someone that can take in farm animals like chicken ducks geese goats or pigs. I have experience with foxes and wolfdogs. I'm networked with a local parrot and horse rescue as well. I currently only have two special needs critters in my care (not including my permanent animals), I just rehomed the most recent surrenders(a hamster who went to a headstart teacher in Mineola and 2 chinchillas to the creature teacher out of Mineola) and have room to take on a few more animals if necessary. I do require the animal to come with everything except on the rare occasion I might have a spare enclosure available. It gives me a safe place that smells like them for me to get them slowly acclimated to the new setting more comfortably and stress-free as possible for potential rehabilitation then I can work on upgrading items or enclosures and taking care of any potential medical issues, if any. If they are completely healthy I can start finding them a permanent home asap with an educated knowledgeable owner. I have a wait-list of people wanting or looking for certain animals or rescues/zoos/school teachers/sanctuaries looking for a rescue. I do not require a surrender fee but donations are greatly appreciated or items that could help the next rescue(enclosures, lights, food, bedding, cages, etc. Most animals are offered up for rehome with a full setup for a small rehoming fee or even free in some cases. I do this only for the animals! I have vet references. The closest exotic vet is literally within walking distance from my house and I've worked with her since the early 90s. I was a vet tech for over a decade before I decided to fully invest in rescue work as a new stay at home mom. I've got nearly 30yrs of husbandry experience with many animals including large cats, farm, exotic, domestic, and some wildlife.
If you are facing the hard decision of having to rehome your pet and you are not trying to SELL IT, give me a call. I'll be sure it finds the perfect forever home where it'll be loved and spoiled.
I also could use donations! What items I don't use I either donate to another rescue/shelter or sell and those proceeds go back to the rescue animals! I'm working with a local food pantry to also offer dog/cat food and hay for outside animals like dog boxes and such. If you'd like to donate please send me a message! I also have cash app/Venmo/PayPal if you'd like to donate that way. We now have a wishlist set up on Amazon!
