Luna is still being a little stingy with her puppies…and that is okay! She allows me to sit down in the pen to pick them up and do our ENS and ESI activities, but that is about all. I have to get sneaky to get their daily weight checks and getting pictures…well, she kept a close eye on me so I kept it quick!
I wanted to get photos showing their beautiful markings, but will have to save that for another time. The blue collar boy is very dark and has just some little white spots on the bottom of his feet. The other six puppies all have 4 white boots, large white markings on their chest and a little splash of white on their forehead. Until they start to develop their unique traits and personalities I will have to rely heavily on their colored collars to tell them apart.
If these puppies are anything like our previous Luna and Marshall puppies, they will have the best temperaments! For the next week and a half, we will continue to complete our daily touch and smell activities and to honor Luna and give her all the time she needs with her babies. She has been an amazing mom and knows exactly what to do. My job is to care for her, just as much as I do for the babies and do everything possible to provide for them. Right now they rely solely on their sense of touch and smell and are already learning about being safe and cared for!
