K-9 Elliot was located near the Sheriffs Office and is ok.

Missing K-9 Officer

On June 7, 2026, K-9 Officer Elliot went missing following a training exercise at the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1100 Clarks Road New Bern, N.C.

K-9 Elliot was last seen entering the woods near the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who sees K-9 Elliot is asked to contact Craven County Communications at 252-633-2357.

🐾 What an Amazing Day! 🐾

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to today's Cheeto Pet Pantry! We had an amazing turnout, and we're so glad we were able to help so many families and their pets. Seeing our community come together to support one another is exactly why we do this. ❤️
We would also like to give a special thank you to Peace by the Beach Reiki and Crystals, LLC for always allowing us to use their space and helping make these events possible. Your generosity means so much to us and the families we serve.
Thank you to everyone who has donated food, supplies, funds, and their time. Your support is what keeps the pantry running and allows us to continue helping pets stay fed and cared for.

📢 Important July Update:
We will not be holding a pantry on the first Saturday in July since it falls on the July 4th holiday weekend. We may reschedule a pantry date later in July, and if we do, we will be sure to post an update.

✨ Stay tuned for future announcements, and thank you all for being part of our mission to help pets and the people who love them.

Don’t forget our monthly pet pantry! This Saturday June 6th at 11am to 1pm we will be at Peace by the Beach Reiki and Crystals, LLC in havelock giving out free pet food! Our goal is to keep pets at home so if you need food please come and see us! We also have supplies to give out! Toys, summer items for your pets and collars! And more! 466 us hwy 70, havelock 28532. You do not have to be a havelock resident, any one and everyone is welcomed! No matter what county you live!

We got two dog, dog tents donated to us! We have a few and will be at our next pantry coming up Saturday June 6th! 11a-1pm 466 us hwy 70, havelock! This is perfect just in time for summer! They will be in there bags, just set it up so you can see the size!

🌟🐾 A Special Thank You to Beachside Bike Rentals! 🐾🌟

I would like to give a huge shout-out to Leisa and Hilbert of Beachside Bikes in Atlantic Beach. They are truly some of the kindest people I've met, and I am so grateful that they have opened their doors to host a donation drive on behalf of The Cheeto Pet Pantry!
Thanks to their generosity, we have a collection location where our community can come together to help ensure that no pet goes hungry. Every donation helps provide food and supplies to families and pets in need.
Our donation drive is happening now through June 14, so if you'd like to help, stop by and drop off a donation while you're there!
And if you're looking for a fun way to enjoy your summer, be sure to check out Beachside Bikes! They offer bike rentals and boat rentals, making them a perfect stop for exploring the beautiful Atlantic Beach area and creating unforgettable summer memories.

We currently have an abundance of dog food available and would love to help families in need keep their pets fed. If you are struggling to provide food for your dogs, please reach out to us. We will do our best to bring food out to you when possible.

🎐 Summer Heat & Your Pets: What You Should Know

Hot weather can be dangerous for pets, even if they seem fine! ☀️ Here are a few quick tips to keep your furry friends safe during these hot days:

🐾 Never leave pets in parked cars — even with the windows cracked. Temps rise fast and it can be deadly in minutes.

💧 Make sure they have fresh water at all times, especially if they’re outside.

🌳 Walk early or late in the day — pavement can burn paws during peak sun hours.

🌬️ Watch for signs of heatstroke: drooling, heavy panting, vomiting, or disorientation. If you see any of these, call a vet ASAP.

A little extra care goes a long way in keeping your pets safe and cool this summer! 🧡🐶🐱

Welcome to The Cheeto Rescue! 🐾🧡

We’re so excited to share our journey with you! The Cheeto Rescue is a small but growing grassroots effort dedicated to helping animals in need — especially cats, dogs, and guinea pigs.

We're not an official nonprofit yet, but we're working hard to become one very soon. In the meantime, we’re still fully able to accept donations, host events, and run programs like our Cheeto Pet Pantry, which provides free food and supplies to pets and families in need.

🧡 Please note: Because we are not a 501(c)(3) yet, donations are not tax-deductible — but every contribution still goes directly toward helping animals and keeping them in loving homes.
